So essentially you're grasping at straws? You're disputing the type of contested possessions he gets but don't have any evidence to prove his possessions weren't earned.

I'm not saying you can't be critical of areas of his game (sh*t I do it all the time on this board about various players), but to say he isn't at least an above average inside midfielder is blatantly wrong. He most definitely has below average outside midfield traits such as spreading from the contest and his ability to chase and defend. But to say he played a bad game is objectively wrong.

I'm asking for a greater understanding of what's going on, because I'm not seeing a lot of work inside the stoppage from Kennedy. I'm also getting really tired of people saying he's above average at anything to do with midfield play.

He has clean hands, fast hands and great game sense, but he loses more physical contests than he wins at the stoppage, whether it be holding his ground under pressure, or spreading from it. Like, a lot more.

He looks like the same as when he was drafted: a crafty general forward who has knee issues and appears to lack adequate pace. He should never have been pick 10.

As he coasts more in that direction, we should be looking at players like Kemp, Stocker, Philp, Dow, Setterfield and JSOS for being better at what we're hoping Kennedy can bring to our squad.

Where does he fit in with all those names already here? It's no coincidence that all bar one of those names was unavailable for selection this week, but it's in moments like that, 6 names down the depth chart, where we should be thinking differently with our tactics instead of retaining a player that doesn't really perform adequately in the role at AFL level.

Kennedy was good tonight but unfortunately for him we can't play in same team as cripps, curnow, setterfield who are all above him, he is a depth player or we move him on. Time for us to be ruthless & cut players who are in reality just going to be bit part players. Get Curnow, JSOS, Newman back in, go out and find some outside run & quality users of footy & we will be OK.

Rules were altered a few years back. Used to be a thing only for Cat B rookies, or under special dispensation after you delisted the rookie and they went through the draft again.

I've said before jSOS would have suitors if he wanted out he could find a home easy enough -- hawthorn essendon(Would really want ) Melbourne could do with his hard edge in the front half .. I hope he doesn't want out as he is in our best 22 in my eyes ---- but if he goes Ben delisted we sure don't have to worry about conflict of interest ..

My initial ambitious trade plan:

Snag Williams as a RFA
Isaac Smith as a UFA

Trade 7 and 25 to Geelong for 11 and ~18.

Trade ~18 for Saad (or a player of roughly that calibre - eg, Graham, Brent Daniels (my preference))

Trade 11 and 2021 second (2021 first if we absolutely have to (but asking for a second in return)) for an A-grade midfielder .. the risk-taking side of me would like to see if Tom Green might be interested in leaving the Club that he was always destined to play for (99.9% not gonna happen, and unlikely to have the immediate impact we’re craving)... more cautiously, there are any number of midfielders we could try and shake loose.

Add Williams, Smith, Saad/Daniels*, Green** plus a fit Cripps and Curnow.

If we’re not satisfied with that, could still try for a Cunnington, Breust (small forward) or Gunston..

He is embarrassing to watch would rather play a young player.
Adelaide could not wait to get rid of him.
Once upon a time Betts was a rookie and was given a chance.
Already had Fisher play more forward this year.
Gibbons plays forward.
Honey played one game maybe we could have seen him play more.
More games into Philp Owies
On second thought your right we really need his 0.8 goals a game and 0.8 goals assist and 27 fumbles a game.

... which, while true, does not account for a nearly 33% reduction in possession between two seasons.
He's gone from averaging 28 disposals to averaging 20; that's more than a 20% reduction.

He's clearly played hampered. Think you're being a mite unjust.

Its not as straightforward as that though - Cripps has always got more of it and had more impact in second halves as the game slows. No doubt he hasn't been at his best, but the shorter quarters have also impeded his ability to impact.

I thought I would post up some points of interest on our list demographic to make for good conversation;

I think the list below highlights the fact that we have players with very little AFL experience games wise and to also give the team a little more credit for the season we have had and improvement shown.

This team has a huge amount of upside and if we manage to trade in some quality A graders we should be able to fast track up the ladder next year.

Most teams tend to see big improvement when the majority of their best 22 hit 100-150 games played, something to keep in mind.

Agree with the 'Gone' except not sure on BSOS (literally know nothing about his development).
McGovern should not have a contract renewed under any circumstances. Has not played for the jumper one bit, like I posted elsewhere, I don't care how much 'upside' there is to him, the club needs to make statement that you are here to play for the jumper.

For that reason alone, Levi gets another contract. Murph is about cooked but we keep him on as depth or he retires. Betts stays unless we get Papley (unlikely) or have developed someone in his spot. Kennedy has played ok in the games he's been in, hasn't set the world alight, but unsure why he has been dropped ahead of others less deserving.

I'm honestly not overly keen for Saad or Williams.

Williams biggest plus is we get him as a free agent. But the money he will be on worries me because he has been very injury prone.

Saad had the choice to come to us and went to Essendope. He can run and break lines but isn't exactly elite disposal. The last thing we need is more forward 50 bombs. Plus I don't believe he is a free agent and Dodoro is a moron. Seems like a lot of effort for not much and he made his choice.
