Have read all of the Taranto talk over the last week or so but missed the catalyst for it.
Is he out of contract or does he want out?

Neither... Everyone is seeing GWS being $2Mil over the salary cap and hoping for a fire sale of all their good players.

As far as I'm concerned, there are only really Cripps, Weitering, Walsh, Harry who are untradeable on our list. There are others - Martin, Doc, Charlie - who would make for difficult trades, but I'd still do them for the right price. Everything else is tradeable, provided all things can be accounted for.

If we need to give up Jack and Cuningham plus next year's second for Merrett, I'm all for it. If we have to give up Charlie and next year's first for Bontempelli, I'm for it. We need to look at improving our side, and sometimes that means rocking the boat a bit.

Agree wholeheartedly we’re closer to top 8 finish and a shot at the flag in 2 /3 years if we trade in some vital clogs.
Williams is a definite positive another top notch midfielder is next, that would Great for 2020.

Had a good discussion with a Carlton Supporter mate of mine when I brought up the topic of Laird instead of Saad.
Adelaide need youth and Crowden is a SA boy. I have heard that McGovern might want to go home.

Just a side question with Saad & Carlton

How does the Carlton supporters here feel about what his value in a trade is and how confident are you in the new list manager compared to SOS
personally i think his value would fall between #12-#16 range in this years draft

Respectfully disagree TG.

He is out of contract so late 2nd Rnd pick - 27.

He chose * last time instead of us and he can stay there.

That is my personal opinion.

According to journo Sam Edmund, a rival club is circling around Jack Higgins. No club named, but as we are after a quality small forward, could we be that club?

Most likely Norf.

They circle around every player :tearsofjoy:

If we were the rival club, I would be happy if he was to come across to us. Edmund said since his surgery on his brain bleed, he has struggled to get a regular spot in their team. In some of the games he has played, I thought he acquitted himself ok, but concede, probably not las well as before his operation.

LOL Hardly surprising , Higgins was not expected to play any games this year and had no vision after the operation and expected recovery was 6-12 months
He has done extremely well to even get on the ground to train.

He had virtually no pre season and limited training until after the games re commenced and yet has still managed to play 10 games and was on the cusp of reselection until he got injured in the scratch match after kicking 3 goals in a half.

Kid will be fine next season and lives breaths football

As much as I want saad I feel like he would just leave if the going gets tough. It seems to me he is just follows the money. That‘a just my opinion though
He says it is club direction, I agree with you, it being the money. We have also thrown in a car, what else will he expect from us to convince him? If the President spoke to him, and he mentioned it was club direction he wanted (finals and or/eventual flag) he should have been told there's more chance with us than * imo.

If he was a contract player, you could argue a pick higher than that range would be required. Potentially even pick 7.

As an uncontracted player, I would have thought somewhere between the 18-25 mark is an appropriate trade value. Maybe 12-16 in this years draft given the number of academy players.

The thing with Saad is that he's 27 next season. The reality is he's probably got 3-4 seasons performing at his current level before his form drops off. It would make sense for Richmond to give up a pick as high as 12 for Saad because you're competing now. The reality for us is we may still be another 3-4 years away from being a genuine contender as a top 4 side. Come this point, we'll then be looking for Saad's replacement.

It's now being rumoured that pick 7 will be required to get Saad over the line. Personally, for our current position, I'd hit the draft again and top up the list with some DFA's or value trades. There's going to be some interesting names pop up this trade period with list sizes being reduced. Saad is definitely worthwhile at a reasonable price, but I certainly wouldn't be selling the farm for him.

Saad's a cream on the cake player. Our cake still needs a little bit more baking. You only have to look at our midfield to know that we're not quite ready to contend with the best.
He would be 500kplus value all of the time......solid worker, elite run and pace.......can turn momentum in a game as Doc has done for so long
Game changer........especially for Carlton
Under value
Time to unbolt the kitchen sink
Do it :thumbsu:

That’s not an issue of concern for us. The issue is whether we will get bang for our buck from him. Having said that it is a shame we haven’t trialled Cuningham in that defensive role. Maybe we could have avoided this trading melodrama altogether

As I type this, he just kicked a ripper ... somewhat tongue in cheek, but if Cats go out in straight sets again, must be time to see if Danger wants to join the Mighty Blues to win a flag before his career is over!

How do we trade for Saad and satisfy Essendon?

Pick 7 for Saad, Fantasia and a future 2nd.
Hard pass. Fantasia wants to go back to Adelaide anyway. And I don’t think we need him or should want him.

I can’t see 7 going to *. It might go to Geelong or someone else with multiple 1sts, one of which (or an early 2nd or whatever) could go to * for Saad, but no way should that pick 7 head to windy hill.
