Yeah I thought Callum Jamieson in last years draft would have been a very good late pick which West Coast did, similar attributes to TDK and played as an over ager in the champs, we need to get one soonish to start there development unless we can pinch a semi developed one from another club as Kreuser will probably retire at years end and we need another, maybe even need one that is ready to play some games soon.

I think by next year we'll be looking at Pittonet first choice, TDK as backup, and Levi the break glass option (with McKay, Curnow and Gov fit in 2021, Levi may become floating injury cover for 3 positions).

Follow up question - if McKay, Charlie and Gov are all ready and raring for 2021, do we look at playing Levi down back ahead of Jones...? Feel like there would be certain match-ups that would make that an appealing option.

Honey isn't anywhere near as small as some may think; 184 & 79
There's some good size about him and seems to have the body to put on plenty of muscle, yet.
Honey has the ability to go through the centre also and his pressure is good from what I saw.

He has things to work on and kicking is one of them, but there's something about him that just tells you, he can make it.
That Draft Central write up on him finds the right word - Presence.
Yeah I’ll admit I wasn’t that keen on him in the draft as I thought he tended to get lost at times and wasn’t that clean with the ball, also in the vision I watched he didn’t look like a natural footballer, more than happy that I was wrong as he looks like a beauty both as a pressure forward and with his size and power will be a very handy mid, really has all the attributes to be another DeGoey or Petracca and is developing very quickly which is a great sign to his work ethic and commitment, really happy with how he is shaping up.

I agree with getting rid of the NGAs as they just aren’t balanced and fair and the clubs are not developing these players but just naming them when they show some talent, but getting rid of father/sons is the wrong call from Lyon and his reasoning that the NBA and NFL don’t have it is just stupid, it is one of the great parts of our game having multiple generations playing for a club and let’s face it where would the Bulldogs be without father/sons, just kidding, not.

I love the father son concept.

But I think it has to go for the competition to be fair.

Honestly Geelong as an example created a dynasty off father sons. It can't happen.

FWIW I'm a fan of SOS' work while at the club.

The way he schooled Reid and turned some cast-offs into gold will go down as legend.

I just cringe sometimes at this halo we seem to place on him and the reverence he's afforded on here.
I took some time to contemplate your post, above, before responding. I’ve concluded that it’s the third-party who cringes about another holding yet another in a position of reverence who has the issue.

I hold SOS in well deserved reverence, Underneath it all, that’s what footy is about. We connect with the personalities that have collectively contributed to a club‘s identity. Without that, there’s pretty much forking nothing

Hold on.

Pittonet is 24yo and has played 13 senior games...

Now, or next year, is the perfect time to draft a ruckman. By the time they're getting close to being physically ready, Pittonet is pushing 30 and we can start to interchange the two based on form/fitness.

And there's every chance TDK presents as a more athletic ruck option in the meantime should we need to go that way.

I guess I am thinking short term and hence my comment. We needed to draft a Ruckman 3 drafts ago for mine.

Because in the next few years post Kruzer we will have a bit of a hole when it comes to rucks.

I 100% agree we need to draft a Ruckman this year or next. But with our current core I feel like we need something to challenge in the next 2-3 years :) and a freshly drafted Ruckman historically can't provide that.

So many variables! But say we did draft one this year our core will be late 20s early 30s. So that works too! :P

The Papley hype is being blown out of proportion.

If Josh Kelly is potentially available this trade period, can't see how Papley is the most lucrative trade target.

So if his market value is now $1m per year, we'll most likely have to pay $1.2-$1.3m per year to pry him from Sydney. He could well end up being close to the highest paid player in the game. I personally don't have him anywhere near the top echelon of players in the AFL including Fyfe, Dangerfield, Martin, Grundy etc. but it seems like others do.

Need to be careful with a contract like this, as it's the type of contract that could cripple the club moving forward.

You could probably get a combination of Zac Williams and Brad Crouch for that money and not have to give up any picks either.

Papley won't get 1 million.

And you wouldn't get williams and crouch combined for 1 million...Williams alone will probably get around 700k.

Yeah and from the sounds of that article I can’t see him asking to leave and nominating a club like he did last yeAr as it sounds like he was embarrassed having to go back and face his teammates, combine that with his contract status and the fact Sydney don’t want to lose him as well as how well he is performing which will only increase his cost and I just don’t see it happening, maybe ask the question and then just move on when Swans baulk at it. Let’s hope Honey kills it when he gets his chance and saves us the headache.

Sam Hayes was also interesting, projected as a top 10 or 20 slipped into the 40s! Ended up at Port.

I think he has had some knee issues though :(

Surely we could get some special dispensation from the league?? Cats and Hawks would somehow manage it.
The AFL should change the rule such that a pick in each round has a point value and you must conclude the year with a minimum points for the next draft.
EG
Round 1 = 5 pts
Round 2 = 3 pts
Round 3 = 2 pts
Round 4 = 1 pt.

Rule = you must maintain (say) 6 points for the next draft after each trade.

Something like this would offer more flexibility whilst maintaining the goal of not letting teams self-harm.

In fairness, it’s changed dramatically since they got Ablett, Hawkins and co.

Hawkins went at pick 41. If they had the current points/bidding system he would have been a matched bid early in the first round. There’s every chance they would have missed out on Selwood in that scenario.

I’ve got no problem with the current F/S system. I’d much rather they reduce/remove the 20% (?) points discount for academy players though.

Yep I really like the idea of Levi in a key defensive post or as the interceptor I actually have more faith in his stopping ability than in Jones, Levi is probably one of the best at judging the flight of the ball and has really improved at reading the play.

Once Charlie returns I think moving Levi behind the ball is almost a must as his size is what we need against the 200+cm giant forwards that are to tall for Weits and to strong for Jones, he just solidifies our defence and makes it nearly impenetrable, he just doesn’t lose marking contests in defence big Levi.

They're almost doing this deliberately; they know they can't win the flag, so they're going to him as often as they can. It's somewhat akin to what Richmond did in 2016 to Dusty. This of course drives up his price, but also improves him as a player; when the game is coached to work through you, you tend to get more practice doing what you do.

That suggests to me he's definitely leaving, but they're going to want both incisors for him.

If Papley was in our team, he probably would have 25 goals this year. Probably sitting top 4.

Papley is a gun

Charlie on the wing imo
