I was watching Norf on the tube a few weeks back with my d*ckhead meter handy .... everytime Polec touched it, which was rare, it went crazy. Think this is further proof that he violates our no d*ckhead policy

If he leaves North then there would have to be big worries. Leaving Brisbane I have no drama with, Doc done the same. Taking a life changing contract that will set him up for life I have no worries with, most players would.
Why is he out of favour at North? That’s the big worry imo.

Rhys Shaw has no idea what he is doing. He needs help with coaching staff.

Polec reminds me of Ryan Houlihan. Sublime kick but forgets to chase. Having him tag Crippa was laughable. Not the worst but North would need to pay some of his contract

And I’m not sure where people think we’ll get an impact player from. Would you give one up? Best place is to look at clubs either facing a salary squeeze or who have ridiculous depth and throw the kitchen sink at a youngster yet to fully show out.

LeBron James was about 34 when he changed teams for the fourth time. If you are closed minded you can miss opportunities.
Polec does what we would hope LOB would do and that cost a top 10 pick. if North indeed did front load his contract then he is a low cost high reward type. In saying that I have no idea about his personality so that is obviously the most important thing.

I really hate seeing Carlton champions play for another team, it started with Crosswell then Jezza and Jezza took a couple with him as well.

He 100% makes us better. He’d be in our top 10 players and is probably in North’s top 5.

Im not sure whether he’s a dickhead or not, or whether his salary is front ended or back ended, or what draft pick he’d cost, but he is a great footballer.

Well IMO our best is nearly good enough to beat anyone. We are a young side and thus showing inconsistency, but there hasnt been a game against a potential finals side where we werent their equal for a good proportion of the game .

We have beaten the cats at home
we competed really well against WCE in first half
We should have beaten Port
We easily beat the dogs
We lost by 1 point to demons- out scored them after disastrous 0-5 goal first 1/4
We were well beaten by saints after a slow start. Outscored them after 1/4 time
We outscored the tigers after 1/4 time. stlll well beaten

The point being, we have the cattle now. We will only get better. We have so much improvement to come its ridiculous. I would not be in a hurry to overpay for any player . More important to keep our existing group together and playing well

Better sides can carry those types of players. He’s no less accountable than Murphy who is an asset when we’re on top.

Right now, we're bemoaning SPS not being utilised as the mid-fielder he was drafted as.
Some of us are also wanting Fisher being played as the midfielder he was also recruited as.
ECurnow is going nowhere any time soon and even though Murphy is still being utilised, it is being pegged back somewhat.

Cripps, ECurnow, Walsh, Setterfield & Murphy have been our midfield mainstays for a good part of this year, with cameos from Cuningham, Martin, Gibbons.....so even if Murphy was to be taken out altogether, how on earth are we going to fit in SPS, Dow, Kemp, Stocker, Fisher, Kennedy, Philp ?
Answer - We're not.

Lots to play out for the CFC to get our best balanced side onto the park next year, even if we didn't recruit any players.

Don't get polec, watch him against Geelong in the last QTR north are making a comeback, he's on danger in the centre square provides no body contact and allows danger to stroll out of the middle and hit a team mate for a goal. He plays for himself, not enough team play, chasing pressure acts etc, you are betting off playing O'Brien.
Don't get fiorini, he's a list cloggers.

I would think about Polec if North agreed to pay a sizable portion of his salary and didn't ask the World in terms of a trade IE 3rd round pick etc

Probably past his prime, but still has pace and can kick a goal on the run.

Might be a better bet than a 3rd or 4th round pick in a very compromised and arguably shallow draft.

Pass. Too many times he commits errors that hurt the team (Norf almost qualify). We have his type covered going forward: Dow, Kemp et al.

I think that’s harsh, he has averaged more rebound 50’s then any of Walsh, Newnes and Murphy this year and wins more ball then all of them in the defensive half.
for me he is a poor mans B Hill yet better contested but behind everywhere else. Walsh will go into the midfield next year and Polec is miles ahead of any wingman in our side.
His type can be extremely important, a lot like B Hill and Smith were pivotal in Hawthorns three peat.
if he is a dickhead then fair enough but on ability he is miles ahead of what we got and if he is going cheap then has to be worth a look at least imo

I was never putting down Murph. He is not an accountable footballer, maybe he used to be but he isn’t now. Every side has them. We can carry one or two of these guys especially when we play our best football.

I think you’re underestimating how good Polec is. Not sure how he passes as a teammate but if we think he’d fit in he’d be a damn good player for us. Cost permitting of course.
