I'm sure many of them have done much more for the community than you and I, but they get no credit.
And many will acknowledge that their religion was the main reason why they are who they are and act the way they do.
You can't dismiss that religion as a whole has had a much greater positive affect on society than negative one.
Yikes.
I will happily say that I don't believe religion has had a much greater positive effect of society than a negative one.
Probably more people have been killed in the name of religion in human history than any other cause.
I can't think of a single thing that has divided more people in horrific ways than religion.
Sure - I understand why we needed religion thousands of years ago to educate people to not sleep with their relatives.
Now? In a time of science? I'm thoroughly behind religion being a way to bring some communities together to support one another.
But the sad truth is - a lot of modern religion is more driven by supporting prejudice than it is about accepting differences. I don't know if Jesus would recognise a lot of the words said in His name.
