I get that, but everyone says you need to win clearances to win games, they’re clearly showing you don’t
What it all boils down to is you have to kick more goals that the other (derr) how you get there can happen different ways.

Maybe it actually helps Tasmanias case.

When North, The Dogs, the Dees or the Saints have another economic disaster, The AFL might not have the luxury of bailing them out.

In comes Tasmania and their Govt backed $$$

You're assuming in this scenario that the Tasmanian government will still have the money to underwrite it.

I think it's part of their gameplan design. They want to beat teams via pressure and turnovers. By not worrying too much about winning clearances, instead winning it back via turnover and really fast movement inside 50, it upsets the opposition's defensive structure.

Richmond essentially base their gameplan around their ability to switch from defense into attack much faster than other teams. You can often see their wings and outside players switching from defense to offense before they win the turnover. They anticipate their team mates winning the tackle or turnover or whatever and so they end up a few steps forward side of their opponents and away they go.

Not many teams have the sustained pressure to do this, because you really need to make sure you create lots of turnovers but also have the confidence in your team mates to do the job.

Was listening to 5AA with Bicks and Rowey and they quoting the following

Port had played 10 opponents who were coming off a shortened break whilst they played two who were coming off a longer break

Adelaide had played 3 opponents who were coming off a shortened break but they played 9 opponents who were coming off a longer break

The remaining games were equal breaks.

Had a brief look at the fixture and yep it’s true.

Port Logic in overdrive at the moment in Alberton.

Their supporters would rather tank against the Pies in R18, come 2nd and play Richmond 3rd in Week 1 of the finals, a team they beat earlier this year.

The team they beat that round had a host of players missing from that team that game.

Yep that logic appears normal.

Can you build a game plan on losing the clearances? Richmond have 11 clearances for the entire game, thrashed by Freo last week, but are winning both games with ease.
Didnt Hawks also do this?

The irony if Port make the GF and get thumped by Richmond. Richmond looking unstoppable at the right time again. I'd have many people to payback for all the 2017 taunts.

Maybe Port could produce a special 2007 effort and deliver to their fans a 150pt loss to go with their artificial manufactured 150 year celebration.

More than likely it will be 23pt loss to go with the plastic franchises 23rd year in the competition.

AFL Thursday/Friday night scheduling has been shit house this season. How the hell does North Melbourne who are 17th get a Thursday night match and then St.Kilda/Giants get a Friday night. What rubbish last round.

I saw that tweet a few days ago. Did Rowe give credit or did he pass it off like he did the research himself?

As a punter that regularly bets on the AFL, I am well aware that the shortened break between games has no statistical significant bearing on the outcome. This also is based on a very large sample size.

This has been discussed and stated ad nauseum on the stats forum of this site.

However, I will add though, in 2020 we are in uncharted territory for a variety of reasons. Statisticians will also warn you of making judgements based on small sample size.

In a normal season, they don't have constant short break game like this year. How can anyone say that this doesn't affect your performance is beyond me. GWS is a surprise as usually the lower team will get the rough end of this kind of fixture (I thought the AFL would have switch their fixture with Sydney) and more than likely assisted our draft position.

Wow that 1st half from north melbourne has to be the most insipid and heartless performance I have seen for a while. It's like they are not even trying.

It was funny bonar didn't even bother to Chase before. Fremantle got the ball out the centre and the north mods didn't even bother to Chase.
