I'm staggered that people are still taking this season seriously, there doesn't seem to be a limit on what the VFL can dish up and some people will still swallow it.

No crowds, some teams in hubs - some not, short quarters, playing home games in another state, no tackling allowed at training....

And this is on top of all the other VFL bias that happens every season.

Not really, the club supplied training reports, vision, protocols, layout plans etc (according to their ceo)

It's refreshing to see Essendon keeping on top of important paperwork where player welfare is concerned...

We can have crowds of up to 25k

Surely we get some home games now.
How can we have home games with Vic clubs coming in? Unless they have a hub here I don't see how it happens at this stage.

Any reason why media like David King and Sammy have grown a conscious tonight and are apologizing for getting the McKenna situation wrong? Any apologies for going off early on the training breach?
Didn't he still likely have it, he did test positive twice. Maybe recovered quickly being a supremely fit athlete?

How can the AFL justify that only 1 person came into close contact with McKenna on Friday? There is literally footage of him being tackled by several players.
I know that keeping the competition running is important to them, but if others are sick (but not yet testing positive) and allowed to play, and infect another club, that is the end of the season for at least a month if not permanently. Plus you know, it could potentially cost someone their life. Can't believe that they are being so reckless.
In other states, if you have been near a confirmed case for more than 15 minutes it is a mandatory 2 week isolation. How does that not apply here?

That's the problem, it's that standard that they're using to run the racket. Footy training is open air, you're only in close contact with each player for very short periods and then you're not. Basically walk into a pub, pash a chick, walk out, all good. No 15 minutes there.

Essendon V Melbourne tomorrow night?

I don't understand why the game isn't on tonight. From there they can do 5 and 6 day breaks for a couple of weeks and we're back on terms. Now this game is hanging over the season's head and someone is going to get lucky by playing them off a short brake. And knowing our luck, it'll probably be us. That said, if they reschedule them for Thursday and Friday in last round, they can play Wednesday in the week off between finals and still have a decent break leading in.

Pick 1 is serious business mate, do not go around saying the season is a joke.

The AFL desperately needs Adelaide to finish last this season as no matter the circumstances, nobody will ever put an asterisk next to a Crows wooden spoon therefore legitimising Premiers, Brownlow, All-Australian Team etc...

He had an irregularity, and then a separate test was positive.

You get false negatives, but you don't get false positives.

Stop spreading drivel.

The Covid19 swab test ABSOLUTELY have both false positives and false negatives.

In fact nearly every test of this variety can have both, but the likelyhood varies depending on the test.

I really wish uninformed people would stop sharing incorrect information like this.

We need reporting around this pandemic to be accurate and people just making shit up is doing a disservice to the entire community.

Would be interesting to see whether non Vic based teams (or even Vic based teams) turn around and refuse to play Essendon based on the obvious failed logic regarding who he has and hasn't come into contact with etc

Surely the AFLPA should see through the failed logic and make a statement for the good of the players own health and welfare (and of their immediate families)...?

The VFLPA, they've shown their true colours this year.

Also doesn't help that some of the top people in Vic Health were too busy making leftie political comments at a time they should have been flat out containing/testing/protocols etc, maybe if they had concentrated more on their work the state wouldn't be such a cesspool.

It's staggering how this has been forgotten about, not worried about their job and look at the outcome now, disgraceful.

You don't think they're capable of walking & chewing gum at the same time?

With the Covid outbreak in Victoria not looking like slowing I can't see how the AFL can possibly continue to play games in that state. They need to stop playing, push those teams out to hubs in the COVID free states, 2 weeks of quarantine and start play again. Get over your VFL selves and do the right thing.
