I don’t study the books but I am pretty sure the videos, esports and baseball ** do not generate a lot of profit if any. And if they did I am sure that profit would be re-invested back into where it came from. (**I see AFLW as part of our core business)

If there is an equipment cap in the future I am sure the AFL will close the shared resource loophole pretty quick.

Spend every cent then some to win games of football. Success brings dollars, I am not saying don’t look to invest elsewhere but get your core business right first.
Today maybe not as much as you want, but in the future, it looks promising, Also it's the ability to use these other sports to Ease the Pressure on the Soft Cap, shared resources and expertise,
And much as some like to think otherwise the Football department is separated from the entertainment and media sections. The Football Department is not short of funding far from it.
But the Crows cannot rely on memberships and the current Sponsorships deals to keep it viable, To get the best sponsorship deals they need to offer something different, and cross over is one way of getting that.
So I will ask you the same question I ask others, what should they do look at alternate long term ventures or sit back and do nothing but spend all their money on the football department and pay the 100% tax, and in 5-10 year time be broke,

Just curious, what video content you'd love to see the club put out? Like more post-game interviews with players/coaches? More get to know the players content? More funny/joke stuff/light-hearted stuff with the players? Any other ideas of cool content from the club you'd love to watch?
The AFLW do it with 'Doc Diaries' Where the Head coach goes over one particular play he was really happy with and explains what is happening and why it was good and points out off the ball efforts you may not notice.... I thought that was cool and would love something like that on a Tuesday with Nicks.

Looks like Coleman-Jones has filled out well. Might play a fair bit this year
Darcy Cameron who moved from Sydney to Collingwood also looks quite good.

we desperately need ruck depth, we need to be looking at the non 1st rucks around the league and if they'll be able to be our back up

So the Power's China game looks almost a lock to be moved to Cairns.

The question has to be asked, Saints risk losing a significant home ground advantage to potentially land in the 8 is worth $700k to them, is it really worth it?

Why not forfeit the $700k and play at the Dome, land the win and potentially make it harder for the Power to grab the position in the 8 that they are likely competing for???

Then maybe we should be asking about Willem Drew? Tall mid with inside/outside ability and an outstanding tank.
I really don't know enough about him to comment. I would have thought that the GWS 1st rounder we have could be a very nice chip to use in trade period if we are targeting a younger player possibly - unless of course the club thinks there are better options in the 1st round of this years draft

It's a conundrum for the Saints

$700k or a better chance at the win?

I think cash will still win out

Ffs the luck Port have, they lose their precious China game but still get to play the saints at a neutral venue.
Wouldn't be surprised if Port still get to sing their little song at the start too.

Why not play it at Moorabbin? You'd get a bigger crowd there than at Cairns or Shanghai even if it holds slightly less. The Saints fans would attend in droves.

GreyCrow yes the cash wins out, because they are a very poor VFL Club in comparison to the rest. I think if they were in a flag window, maybe they would forfeit the $700k. In the end it makes sense what they are doing.

treeman As we are Crows supporters, its in our best interest that Port win, accidentally fall in the 8, Ken extended again and then they get knocked out in Week 1 of the finals. Probably in that order is what will happen. Damn straight they will sing "their" song.

roo2macca If at Moorabbin how many would turn up? Maybe 30k at most? But it would be strange because the game is considered a Power home game as Saints sold the rights to it. More like selling their souls. Should never have been a part of the AFL.

The ground only holds 10K (Cazalay holds 13.5K and Jiangwan holds 11K). Given the crowds that Cairns and Shanghai have received, what would the AFL lose by playing it at a spiritual home?

Is that including the 10k out the back?

Seems similar to types we already have
Then so is Hately because his junior footy with the Rebels was played in almost the identical style to Hately at Centrals. Better defensive pressure/gut running ability than all our mids bar perhaps Sloane.

Chris Davies is a good operator and he clearly rates him.

Chayce Jones to remain at the AFC for another 5 years?

AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan believes the Gold Coast Suns will remain in the competition ‘forever’ and doesn’t see a team playing out of Tasmania within the next five years.

Unless he wants to return "home" to Victoria. :drunk:

Or he kills two birds and relocates Gold Coast to Tassie😛

The only way I see us spending any draft capital on Hateley, Drew and similar is if we move on one or both of the Crouch lads.

Otherwise the balance just isn’t there.

Crouch lads need to be surrounded by pace, pressure and skill. Guys like Prestia and Edwards.

Prestia has skill?

Much rather they went back to using the white "butcher" jacket with a proper hat - not a cap and fluro colour.
I think there's a clash with the goal posts. If they go with white stripes on white, that should eliminate the problem
