The mighty Roosters, 14 premierships, produced some the greatest players this state and the game has seen. Robran, Farmer, The Jarman brothers. Not bad considering were right next to Norwood and Sturt.

Dustin Fletchers old man on a wing. Malcolm Blight and John Wynne on the bench.

Haven’t seen that before, can’t argue with that and R.E a gentleman, thanks for that M
Some circumstances here you might not have been aware of in this video, how things could have been very different.

Can’t play what’s the mist?
Ebert saying he had decided to go to the Roosters after both Port and North had chased him but Port persisted and even though he'd told North they were his choice they didn't put a form in front of him and Port did so he signed with them. Imagine Ebert and Robran playing in the same team in the SANFL back in the day..

Jeeezz thank god

And both Robran and Ebert far far better foot skills than Fyfe. When it comes to football polish especially IMO Fyfe plays nothing like Robran, much more in the Ebert mould minus the polish.

Living in Pt.Augusta as a kid and attending Spencer Gulf footy games with a father who played for Central Augusta I reckon there's a fair chance I saw Barrie Robran even before you did playing for North Whyalla in the A grade team as a 17 year old before he ventured down to the Roosters?

Agree on the footskills none of the modern day players have the footskills of yesteryear is that a product of more pressure, speed of the game who knows.

I just thought Robran/Fyfe because of both of their abilities to impact games and do amazing things

Ebert I was going to compare to Sam Mitchell but that wasnt right either, skills by hand and foot yes but Ebert was also a contested ball beast and just seemed to get to every contest

150th celebrations fall flat .... shame really 🤣
OneClub was a massive fail

Port Powa and Koch made such a big deal about OneClub and now they’re ****ed

Shame really

This is what happens when you bite off more than you can chew and think you’re better than what you are

Shame really ....
🤣🤣🤣🤣

“Mr Thomas stressed the club was preparing to return to the SANFL next season.”
Yeah

So the Port 150th year is basically falling apart and in the toilet.

Well think it might be a bit of karma. Your AFL side isn’t 150 years old, the Port Magpies are but the more recent incarnation isn’t.

Happy 150th birthday. Your present is exclusion from the SANFL

At the time, IIRC, as good as Bradley and Kernahan were, Motley was considered a bigger talent than both when they all went over in the same year - and that is high praise. Probably Tony Modra in a little way reminds me of Peter Motley in terms of his athletic ability to fly
I actually always thought Motley could have had a playing career like James Hird.

Edit - with the others, Ebert had such a burst of speed at the contest, and a clear mind to make the right decisions. I guess Fyfe, but MUCH better football brain.

Robran had time and was so good above his head. Probably comparable to Carey, except Robran had grace when Carey had power.

Bagshaw too early for me. I remember Robran because I grew up in Salisbury and when I was really young he would come to footy training once a year, before pie night.

I think your analogy of Motley to Hird is pretty good
IMO the best of the crew that crossed the border at that time

Posters, I'm disappointed Port's greatest achievement wasn't remembered on their birthday

:D :D :D
or who could forget the first ever win by Gold Coast and where it came and who it was against
7 scoring shots to 42 ******* lol
think of it this way, if every shot port had was a goal and every shot hawthorn had was a point, port still wouldn't win
