Normally around or up to a 2 week incubation period, though there have been some cases much longer .. this could end badly, at least for Melbourne based teams
Mandatory 14 day quarantine for the entire playing group and staff.
No exemptions.

Would be interesting to see whether non Vic based teams (or even Vic based teams) turn around and refuse to play Essendon based on the obvious failed logic regarding who he has and hasn't come into contact with etc

Surely the AFLPA should see through the failed logic and make a statement for the good of the players own health and welfare (and of their immediate families)...?

They'll play. Wouldn't much like being a Carlton forward this week.

But we have a positive test in the work place, no isolation, didn’t McDonalds have to shut down a number of outlets
Yep, the govt are in bed with the AFL.... this is a setup if there ever was one

Not suspicious, it's a bloody sham! Any decent Health professional would tell you.

The whole Essendon squad should be isolating for 14 days.

Would not want to be the Carlton side this week...
No problems for Carlton, football isn't considered close contact.

What I want to know is how was James Stewart in close contact considering the rest of the team weren't

How can the AFL justify that only 1 person came into close contact with McKenna on Friday? There is literally footage of him being tackled by several players.
I know that keeping the competition running is important to them, but if others are sick (but not yet testing positive) and allowed to play, and infect another club, that is the end of the season for at least a month if not permanently. Plus you know, it could potentially cost someone their life. Can't believe that they are being so reckless.
In other states, if you have been near a confirmed case for more than 15 minutes it is a mandatory 2 week isolation. How does that not apply here?

Firstly, it was the Vic Health Dept doing the investigations, and "Essendon's adherence to protocols and record-keeping has helped the club achieve an exceptional outcome in the circumstances of the McKenna positive test."

"You know testing record keeping is a double-edged sword," Trump said Saturday. "Here's the bad part ... when you do testing record keeping to that extent, you're going to find more people; you're going to find more cases. So I said to my people, slow the testing record keeping down please."

In fact if the AFLPA ignore what’s happened then it should be disbanded. It will do nothing though because it overwhelmingly wants the games to proceed so the comp gets the financials moving along and players are more likely to get their over-inflated pay re-installed, instead of worrying about the most important issue of health of the players. It will end up getting what it deserves - maybe more players with COVID19 and the season called off.

......

Now, he's just spent an entire session in contact with basically the entire team. He has 1 "close contact"? So either health advice is wrong, and you can leave the house when positive, just don't go around tackling people, or Victoria's health department is f’ed.

I think there is no doubt about that. With Dan the Man leading them.

Their testing rate was shambolic for the first few months, they bumbled along in the bottom couple of Aussie states for testing, no wonder the virus was a more widespread throughout Victoria - test and trace was poorly done.

It has only been the last month (about mid May) they have got their shit together re. testing. If they had implemented a testing regime like SA did from the start they wouldn't be in this mess.

Also doesn't help that some of the top people in Vic Health were too busy making leftie political comments at a time they should have been flat out containing/testing/protocols etc, maybe if they had concentrated more on their work the state wouldn't be such a cesspool.

I do wonder if we were in the exact same situation what the protocol would be. Something tells me it would be less lenient than Essendon's.

From the media as well. Oh I can just hear Caro's sanctimonious anti-Crows bullshit now.

Was flicking around the TV last night, lobbed on Footy Classified. Not sure what they were talking about but Betts was mentioned and blow me down she mentioned our camp again.

I think she has some sort of disorder, her obsession has got beyond strange.

She never banged on about Essendons drug taking years AFTER the WADA sanctions were done. And we were cleared by the AFL & AFLPA of no wrong doings and it's like we invented Covid 19.

A bit later she had a crack at something Chris Scott said, Manure said" fair go Caro he said that last year, bit harsh raising it AGAIN now" :drunk:

Been the only bit of AFL "media" I've watched this year, obviously haven't missed much.
