I think its also important for the Club to draw a line in the sand in 2020, whats happened in the past cannot be corrected.

We just need to make good decisions from this point onwards.

The Club lamenting that it didnt pick up Luko and Rankine, I can see us in 12 years time doing another stupid Gibbs style deal for them.

Watch us waste the trade period (unsuccessfully) trying to trade pick 1 for Luko.

GWS are playing too many pure midfielders and not enough carry players. No surprise they are struggling for inside 50s.

They need to offload some of their inside players
Sounds familiar

If our current squad was actually half decent, I wouldnt be opposed to that. However, we desperately need elite A class midfielders in this 2020 draft. That only happens with those cherished early picks.

Well if H rated Jones ahead of Rozee then that’s a massive failing on his part.

No one seems to want to address the real issue of why we didn’t walk away from 2017 with a 2018 1st from one of the low teams.

I'm guessing we were keen on Fog, so needed one early pick for him. It's the Gibbs picks that could have been traded out, but they thought they were beefing up a team to challenge for the flag again.

We worked on Luko and Rozee for 18 months, but I don't think we were ever in the frame for Rankine or Luko. We could've thrown the whole house at the Sun's and they wouldn't have taken it..... You can see why.

We were also banking on Port taking King, which was a huge error.

Port winning today helps us in the quest to right that wrong
I don’t buy it with respect.

2017 GC don’t know they’re getting 2 and 3. They may have had some advance knowledge of Lynch leaving, which should have made them more amenable to trading their 2018 1st.

The whole point is that clearly we were too busy selling the farm for Gibbs instead of loading up our 2018 hand.

The Gibbs trade was a disaster on so many levels but as always no one is accountable.

Great result - Port get closer to their asterisk premiership that no one cares about, Hinkley gets an extension, and the GWS are slowly more likely to tank it meaning we could have 2 Top 10 picks.
I think that any premiership counts, I'd take one with the asterisk in a heart beat. But I also believe that your board has managed the exodus of players leaving the club because they were sick of finishing in the middle of the table and needed some bankable stars. Your team still has experienced players but every team needs young players with pace and good skills. You never know how well the current crop of juniors would mix with next year's crop.

Oh I agree with the last bit no question, however you can see why we thought it was a good idea. We clearly needed reinforcements in midfield and had just made a GF. What we gave up was too much of course, but we were right to try and have another crack. Reid and Hamish weren't to know the cluster**** the club would embark on afterwards.

12 months out from the draft, a pick 9 was more than enough to get Rozee, but we were certainly left with our **** in our hands on that one.

To be fair, we wouldn't have expected Melbourne to have their one good season in the last 14 years.

Hardly anyone cares about this year's premiership. It's a glorified lightning carnival.

And I disagree - AFC f*cked for a long time. Our experienced players are the issue, not the young ones.

"The Gibbs trade was a disaster on so many levels but as always no one is accountable."

Except his direct line coach and senior coach who were responsible for his performance and were removed from the club.

You may have intentionally forgot, but he was our best mid in 2018, ave 26 touches and 5 tackles, plus 13 goals for the year.

Something happened after that, which lies with the coaching staff, not list mamagement

He didn't, he rated Rozee very highly. I'm pretty sure if he was in charge of trade week he would have thrown more at it.

In any other year Sydney would be the worst team in the comp.

In any other year

Won’t be an asterisk spoon you lot end up with bet on that 👍

Yes it will be. A totally compromised and farcical season gives less meaning to the Premiers as it does to the Wooden Spooners as well.
