Their spine is good. And a vanilla spine as well.
If a couple of their high pick mids ever come along they'll be dangerous.

That's not just on the spine, that's on the whole team and I'd argue the coaches just as much if not more than the players. McKay is inconsistent (well mostly he just can't finish his good work) but still young and will come good.Nah they are way too inconsistent and their spine is partly responsible.
See their loss to Adelaide.
Good sides win that.
Love IQ, great to watch. He played alright.Quaynor got the Rising star nom over Sholl and Rivers? I didn't even know Quaynor played this week
Exactly - it's not his role to be chasing and tackling. That was my point. In what regard? The bloke is constantly diving for smothers, laying tackles and winning contested ball.
He's not a blocking midfielder but his defensive game is good. It seems that because he is a ball hunter that is somehow negative?
I agree IQ is good, but Sholl was one of, if not the best player on the ground in a huge upset. Sholl by a country mile for me.Love IQ, great to watch. He played alright.

These stats are worthy of Brownlow votes. Quaynor was nowhere near as good.
Yeah I think ideally you want a good ruckman, but not a great one. Cap space better spent elsewhere.Just reading that young ruckman thread on the main board and who has the best young ruckman.
Got me thinking.
How many Premiership teams have a truly great ruckman? We tied up a chunk of salary cap in Sandilands, West Coast in Natanui, Melbourne in Gawn, Collingwood in Grundy etc.
How many Premiership teams have a top flight ruckman? What team last one a fkag having a highly paid ruckman?
Dean Cox at West Coast?
Pretty sure he just missed.
Footy teams have 22 players, of which a ruckman is just one and a specialist at that. Odds are against having a truly "great" one in a premiership team really. Great players are great players though.Just reading that young ruckman thread on the main board and who has the best young ruckman.

Isn't the acquisition of Brad Ottens said to be a major reason for Geelong winning a couple premierships?Just reading that young ruckman thread on the main board and who has the best young ruckman.

He wasn’t there on grand final day, but I doubt 2018 Nic Nat was cheapJust reading that young ruckman thread on the main board and who has the best young ruckman.

Solid keyboard warrior areas.Mundy doesn’t have a record of shirking contests though does he. Terrible comment.
If Acres really wanted to lay the bump (which was a dumb and soft decision) he would’ve. He should’ve attacked the ball like LDU did but instead he took short steps and then very tentatively braced for contact.
I saw him lay a massive block for AB I think it was. Just put his huge frame between opponent and Andy, stuck his arms out and Andy waltzed away with the pill. Surprised to see Fyfe being the one laying the block, but he was very effectiveIn what regard? The bloke is constantly diving for smothers, laying tackles and winning contested ball.

The reality is Acres has replaced BHill. I haven't compared their tackle counts but my money would be on Acres.Careful, your extremely short memory is showing.
Acres has one less tackle in 10 less games. The reality is Acres has replaced BHill. I haven't compared their tackle counts but my money would be on Acres.

They would dive if they could gain a competitive advantage from it, they literally take designer drugs because they need a full blood passport which is mandated in only cycling due to doping being so rife in the sport, and they STILL push the boundariesThe comparison is simple :-
Soccer is a sport full of divers and “hypochondriacs”.
Cycling has no room for divers. Geez they get pushed into barbed wire fences, and then get up and ride on.
Haha. Well he hasn't replaced BHilly. So Serong’s the steakknives!
