The exact same thing was being said last season about Freo when Saints were after Hill, wanting pick 6 in exchange and as soon as the trade week started Saints went out and swapped it for 12 and 18.

If 7 doesn't exist any more then Essendon can't have it.

Ah yes I was trying to recall who did the split last year... saints did it

Hard working midfielder with an excellent endurance base who is very good on the spread and uses it well. Can play midfielder/wing/half forward no problem. Good age too considering the stage we're in.

Wouldn't be against it for the right price.

It's a troll account.

Essendon could force Brisbane to the trade table by matching its $3 million five-year contract offer to restricted free agent Joe Daniher.

The base salary of Brisbane’s offer is expected to be around $650,000.

The AFL confirmed to the Herald Sun that it would only take into account the guaranteed money, as well as Daniher’s age, when determining Essendon’s compensation pick.

The structure of Brisbane’s offer could drop the compensation from a first-round selection (No. 7) to an end-of-first-round selection (No. 20).

Essendon has the right to match Brisbane’s offer — because Daniher is a restricted free agent — and force Brisbane to strike a trade, which it will certainly do if it suspects it will only receive No. 20.

In 2015 Adelaide and Geelong maturely negotiated a trade for restricted free agent Patrick Dangerfield because the Crows were only slated to receive No. 13 as compensation.

The Lions currently hold picks No. 18 and 19.

LIONS’ LOGICAL PLAY

The most logical solution would be for Brisbane to ensure its contract offer was fat enough to deliver Essendon pick No. 7 as free agency compensation and avoid having to give anything up in a trade.

Port Adelaide signed Lion Tom Rockliff on a base salary of $600,000 per season in 2017, but Brisbane only received an end-of-first-round compensation pick.

But Rockliff was 27 at the time, whereas Daniher is a year younger at 26.

AFL integrity officer David Grossman must sign off on the contract, as he does for all deals.

AFL Integrity Officer... Lol!

How saad can get 7 and brown is only worth a 2nd/3rd is a ****ing joke.

Let's wait & see what eventuates first mate.

I find it somewhat strange at time why quality players want such long deals, they end up costing themselves money in the long run.
Of course if they get injured and cant play then they have insurance, but taking 5,6,7 year deal when you're a top line player is a waste.

The media has set its value, I’m aware that the media shouldn’t impact anything but they do the talking heads have repeated their nonsense so much it becomes gospel. We are always going to be a backmarker in this league.

Pick 7 for a flanker????? Cmon man, how is that even close to realistic value. I mean he’s reasonably good but pick 7 how does that happen

What is wrong with the league

We seem pretty keen to move him on if the latest contract offer is true and so far there doesn't seem to be a high demand for his services if the talk is to be believed. There's a long way to go and now The Baby Giraffe is off the table, so hopefully something materlialises.

Brown would be a good fit for Geelong, his weaknesses would be covered by their other players, they have the picks too, they likely cant afford him though.

1) The ground would choke him to death
2) They apparently have other interests:

I doubt anyone is viewing it that simply.

Even if it’s upgrades steak knives etc there is no situation where pick 7 should feature, don’t talk to me about points value, it’s irrelevant in essendons case

Dunno. Not much room in the forward line at the bowling alley when you've got Hawkins waddling around the goal square.

Oh well, Edmund is obviously making things up.
