Oooooo.......imagine more Qldander's coming through the gates to watch the defending premiers with a free kick count of 52 - 7 with Daniher in their side.

Make it happen Gil.
I regularly attend Lions games, enjoy watching them and laugh at my mates carrying on over a few beers but i can NEVER get passionate about them. Its not a conscious decision, they're just not in my blood or dna, play bad,,,,whatever, win great,,,,,but personally if that campaigner is at the club, I may well barrack for whoever they're playing. THE MOST OVER RATED PLAYER OF ALL TIME. Be lucky to get on the park, and I'd suggest would change their game style by bringing him in. I think part of their success is unpredictability in going forward. What they do need is a strong body to take pressure of Hipwood, make a contest, and bring the ball to ground for Charlie, Rayner etc. Suggested to my mates here they should just pick up Shaun McKernan for nothing, and Daniher is way too big a risk of even getting on the park.

Oh well, Edmund is obviously making things up.

I’m not saying he is, but my point is that it’s insane, something is a bit fishy if 7 is involved for a flanker yet a key forward with browns resume can only command scraps.

Carlton have allegedly offered pick 7 as a part of the trade

Hehe, allegedly. Crazy if that is true. Essendon got him for a second round pick in 2017. As much as I love his aggressive run off half back, he hasn't really done a whole lot in the last three years to massively elevate his value, don't think he has even made an AA in that time. I get there would be something coming back, but losing that position is a massive cost. GWS basically had to cough up a first round pick to move up the ladder 2 places last year from 6 to 4, those picks in the top 10 are exponentially more valuable than later picks.

To break up 7 imo isn't worth it. If he is worth a late first round pick they should barter for one from another club using their 2nd/3rd round picks and a future second.

I guess we will see what happens. Not that it matters much to us, I just find it is the same kind of insanity as we got sucked into for the Polec trade, he wasn't worth us cashing that pick in.

Surely you understand that this is all relative to a clubs perceived window and its player needs basis?

It's not a black & white supercoach type thing.

Yes of course, but even that considered it seems messed up to me

Dunno. Not much room in the forward line at the bowling alley when you've got Hawkins waddling around the goal square.
Yeah, but Tubby takes the strongest defender leaving brown to wrestle with someone else, then Dangerfield might end up with the second best defender.
For his lack of forward pressure they also have that covered with Dangerfield and Rohan among others. Plus not a big difference in width between Tassie where brown plays well and baked potato arena.

How would the ambulance chasers know what Carlton is going to offer * for Saad so far out from trade week ?

Trade period is all about controlling the media narrative. Ie, how quickly the conversation of Brown being worth a second round pick and on AFL 360 Saad was pick 7. What these opinions put out shouldn't matter if clubs hold firm, but some clubs and managers manipulate the media to try and control public opinion and put out expectations/pressure on parties.

We have been poor in terms of how we handle the media in general, our position has often been weakened or exposed prematurely, our trades/free agents we have gone after publicised, the extent of our offers broadcast, it has compromised our ability to maximise our position.

My concern is that Hawkins may fall on him and kill him.

Because Carlton are run by rich people who are terrible at keeping a secret, legit running around to every rich mate to pass on news.

I get that mate, but it's really not comparable.

Brown: to ?????

If we look at Brown on an opposition needs basis relative to age & window, then Melbourne & the Bulldogs jump off the page, but neither of them has pick 7 to trade with and the dogs are compromised by JUH anyway. Melbourne don't even have a 1st round pick!

The scum might look at him, but good luck getting 6, 7, 8 out of them.

The logical outcome I see is the dogs trading pick 12 for later picks, or Melbourne doing a player trade.

Saad : to the scum

Carlton have a glaring hole at half back with Simpson's retirement and get a walk up replacement, plus a decent pick as change.

There's just no way I can see dodo copping pick ~16, which will end up being 20-21, and I would walk him to the draft/PSD if North was in the same position. If he goes to the PSD, Adelaide/North will snap him up straight away & both Carlton and the scum will miss out, and if he goes in to the draft then Carlton would have to fork over pick 7 to land him anyway, because he's not going to be there at pick 27!!!

All the cards point towards a mutually beneficial trade of the scum getting pick 7 and Carlton getting Saad & change in return.

Strong body... isn't that Mcstays role?

Pick 7 for a flanker????? Cmon man, how is that even close to realistic value. I mean he’s reasonably good but pick 7 how does that happen

Pick 7 for saad is surely unrealistic, but Not to say it won’t be involved. Could be saad + picks for pick 7 for all we know

Daniher comes to a buyer for free, Brown doesn't.

I can only hope that GC are interested, otherwise the next best suitor I can see is the dogs at pick 13 (which will end up ~17)

I can see a scenario emerging where Brown becomes a pick & player trade.

Trade Brown for future picks.

That way they are less compromised, more exposed, likely in a deeper pool and can be traded in 2 windows instead of 1.

A few clubs looking to dump some salary on us due to us paying well under the cap next year. Will help us with upgrading picks and trades but will mean we end up with players on big contracts they don’t deserve with players like Schache Trengove McGovern and Tom McDonald all possibilities.

If it improves our draft position and those hacks don't get games ahead of kids, it's good strategy imo

It would be interesting to see some machinations here, but the rewards would want to be enticing.
