I know it's an option but very rare to see clubs take players to the PSD these days. Even when Carlton did it with Martin, it seemed like a last resort not plan A.
Carlton would probably be willing to offer a first so why wouldn't * just trade him to the blues?

North Melbourne Head of Development Gavin Brown says the axing of senior assistant coach Jade Rawlings is an unfortunate by-product of COVID-19 cuts at AFL clubs.

Despite having two seasons left on his contract, Rawlings was let go on Wednesday as head coach Rhyce Shaw continues to search for more experience around him following a season which saw them win just three games.

Rawlings, whose brother Brady is football boss of the club, becomes the third assistant to part ways with North Melbourne in 2020, after Jared Rivers and Brendan Whitecross left the club earlier this year.

Brown said Rawlings’ departure was a prime example of the current challenges football is facing.

“It’s a great example of the landscape going forward unfortunately,” he said on SEN’s Time On.

“This year has been really disappointing in that regard and it looks like it’s going to be this way in the short to medium term, I think AFL footy is going to take a bit of a hit.

“Let’s just hope the product doesn’t deteriorate too much because I think the growth of the game and the development of the game is really important.

“Who knows what happens with the second-tier competition and fewer coaches, it has been a great product and I’m sure it still will be but let’s hope we can get back to some normality soon.”

North Melbourne delisted 11 players last month, while also publicly putting star forward Ben Brown on the trade table.

There’s also talk around midfield pair Jared Polec and Shaun Higgins, who could also leave the club this off-season.

Brown opted to take a more optimistic view of the club’s fortunes, saying he was excited what added opportunities could do to help further develop their next generation of players.

“It’s always a sad part of footy when the dreams of young guys are ended,” he said.

“There’s probably a few more (players) than normal but it’s also a very exciting time for the footy club because we get the opportunity to blood a lot of players and with that, it’s exciting because you don’t know what you’re going to get.


“You can get some great young talent and things turn around pretty quick so that’s pretty exciting.”

Part time, again not fully committed to the job. Took the job and money at the dees to improve them a bit which wasn't going to hard and then piss off and not see it through. I will not be happy if the club pay this bloke good money for a token part time role
