FFS just give Lonie the 2nd year

CLUBS CIRCLE SAINT LONIE

Jack Lonie has as many as four suitors – three from Victoria – as he attempts to secure a two-season deal from the Saints.

Heading into the final against Richmond Lonie had played 12 games for 46 score involvements and a dozen goals as one of the success stories for Brett Ratten’s Saints.

But he has been offered only a one-season deal and would want enough security in a two-season deal to stay put.

The Bulldogs are one of those teams keen to add some bite to their half forward line as Cody Weightman takes time to mature, with Tory Dickson having retired and Ben Cavarra having failed to make an impact after being recruited from the VFL.

St Kilda’s Shane Savage, coming in for only his second game of the season for the final given Ben Long’s suspension, has interest from rival clubs and will likely move on after this season.

Not worried about this. Like Carlisle and Paton the deal will get done. All three will be in the red white and black next year.
Along with heeney of course

A future pick in the 30s should get it done. Pies want it to be a future pick so they have points for Daicos next year as a F/S.

I can’t see why they would offload him for just a pick in the 30s. Salary dump sure, but fact is many clubs would offer up more than that. If it were true why wouldn’t they just shop him to the highest bidder instead of just asking for a nothing pick to put towards Daics.

Doesn’t make sense to me.

I'm not confident that we will. Seems simple enough to do yet to only offer him 1 year in the first place seems off considering how important he has been to the fwd line.

We might be more enticed with a pick without realising what a big loss he would be.

Hmmmm interesting.

I didn’t realise dildoro had taken over Simon Lethlean’s job.

I would like to think given the fact he’s been dropped once and worked his way bavk into the side and stayed there the coaching group knows how valuable he is. I would like to think that. Doesn’t mean it’s true. I am just a pleb. Don’t know nothing. ;)

I hope your instinct is right.
Lonie is someone I would hate to lose.

Me too. It’s ironic that two players I have been incredibly harsh on are now two players I am desperate to keep - Lonie and Carlisle.

Brander and Caldwell played together at Geelong Grammar and the Pioneers.

Just sayin’.

Brander’s contracted for next season, though.

Heeney played with Hanners and Zak jones two years ago.

make of that what you will

Am I doing it right Joffaboy ?

Really quite pathetic mate. Lift your game.

A picture says a thousand words and the term

"Make of that what you will"

becomes redundant

Leo looks like he has a very good brain and is a good user of the ball , Byrnes is just a see ball get ball and take off with his speed ( reminds me of a young Lachie Neale ) with more pace and Bytel hopefully turns out to be a Jack Steele clone , if that all works out we are in for some fun

I've heard he reminds people alot like Jason Gram.....minus the stalking

I know people make fun of Essendon's tiny midfield but if Dev Smith is on the market for a future 2nd rounder I would be having a chat with him.

Lays his tackles in, kicks a few handy goals... 2020 is a write of for that club. Get him in under Ratts and I think he would be fantastic.

All about his attitude though. Bombers fans saying he is pretty selfish and a big part of the culture issues ATM. Not sure if that's just spite talk because he is leaving though.

Smith is one of the GWS gang that I thought would develop into a great mid once he got opportunity. That hasn't really happened at Dopersville... maybe he is just a good goal kicking half forward (which we could do with).

He's pretty injury prone now... 3rd rounder at best.

you can have one or two manlets in the mids, but not all of them, we have Hanners, maybe Jones, but the rests are a decent size, Bytel will be a monster, and Byrnes will fill out.

Dildoro will want 6 firsts plus Max King for him though.
