The melts on here about Parker are something else!

A bit of an exaggeration surely - One or two melts, the majority of us just have a bit of empathy for a player who was a real good news story pick up and who we were barracking for to succeed.

It would be sad if Matty's upset with the club. Loved what Parker brought last year, probably a bit unlucky not to get more of a run this year. Hope he gets another crack.

I know people are disappointed about Parker, there isn’t a Saints fan alive who wouldn’t have wanted him to succeed, but probably need to calm down on the rhetoric.

A player like Marty Parker isn’t going to make or break our chances next year.

He was one of the few characters we have left. I know we look on the right path but ring ins and footy robots are a little boring.

As a Saints fan I have never had the luxury of falling back on success so guys who you love for their extraverted characters or brutal attack on the footy and man, the nutters, the celebrators, the clowns, the soldiers etc, they are the guys I loved to watch. Little Milney who everyone outside the Saints hated, Plugger who was like some kind of chubby football savant, rat bags like Aussie and Pickett, brutal units like Powell and the G-Train.

I love guys like Steele and Billings for their prowess but they aren't characters, they are like a christian youth choir. Matty was the last one still giving me a fix, I need Marshall or King to come back with an eye brow shaved off, Libba Tatts on his face and an aggressive attitude so that I don't get withdrawal symptoms.

Plus 2 (Crouch & McKernan)
Leaves us at 39 currently +Alabakis who will be outside of the 40.

so we would only have one spot currently.
Reckon we will at least need to take 2 picks. So may not bode well for at least one of Phillips, Sav, Marsh or Clav.

Honestly do people seriously think that we are still getting Treloar? It's not going to happen and nor should it.
The club couldn't have hosed it down any more but people still read into their words. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills when reading this forum.
Bottom line is, if you keep bringing in big free agents you run out of cap space and lose other players.
I would rather keep our young guns (Clarke, coff, King, Marshall, battle etc) than get in Treloar at the risk of losing one of them.
Sustained success is far better than winning in trade period

Both Membrey and Battle are already best 22 so changing their roles would impact the entire side.

McKernan would be able to come in as back-up for any of our ruck/fwds without us changing our forward structure.

If Adelaide remember Parker being probably our best player in a loss to them, hopefully they give him a go. He'd be good for their team, the kind of player you look forward to watching on the weekend even if they only get a few touches (which is important in a losing team as Saints fans around in the 80s know well). He and Acres were both that for me and now they're both gone. Of course, we've got plenty of other players to look forward to watching now.

TBH, I'd be quite satisfied if King started clunking massive grabs like peak Daniher (nothing like 6'8" rising up over a pack to clunk it) and kicking bags like Plugger ... that's all the 'character' I need

Maybe Battle can go hard with a few more tatts and some real mongrel on field too ... we need someone to get in the face of campaigners like Cotchin and Lynch when they start their crap ...

Our drafting from 2018 not looking as hot now with Young and Parker both delisted and Hind close to the door. Luckily King Bytel and Wilkie may still make this an overall decent result.

Still dirty they let Parker go tbh, bitter post.

Phillips is also out of contract so might be delisted as well and Kent is still contracted.

They both played better at AFL level this year then Parker did so if we were only getting rid of 1, it's a pretty easy choice to make.
