I hate the coverage of the draft in recent years. They've tried to dramatise it but the whole thing is just irritating. I used to love draft night, no bull shit, just called out the picks, sometimes teams asked for more time bit even that was kind of interesting.

I bloody loathe everything about it now, the pretend drama and drawn out early picks. This two day bull shit now, **** me, we've waited ages for this draft already now we have to wait another day...it just takes the fizz out of it and is aggravating.

Hawks or Freo themselves will take Johnson.

Rich may be the ones that trade two of their picks in the 20's for either Norths pick or Freo's to grab Sonsie or Johnson

Yeah they’ve tried to ‘Americanise’ it but it just doesn’t work.

The American sports drafts are watched by millions around the country, even globe in some cases. Not to mention the thousands in attendance that builds the atmosphere and anticipation for each pick.

We’ve just got some wannabe experts in a studio while Gil awkwardly announces names. It's a dumb idea really as only the hardcore footy fans actually care about the draft, there's no need to try (and fail) to make it this big TV spectacle. Just go back to what it was before.

I believe the second night starts at 7pm (just as tonight apparently did), but I'll be in a staff meeting until 9pm

Will be interesting to see if BF is working by the time I can check in or if it's running slow like tonight

Without trying to be unkind as I'm genuinely curious, if they weren't local boys, would anyone here rate them? Or do we feel obligated to take them as it reflects badly if we pass and they turn out to be guns.

Just seen similar with the SA and WA clubs over the years where they 'reach' out of fear of media scrutiny and/or player retention. Wonder if we're in the same boat

If we seriously traded 2x second round picks to take a 3rd teenage ruckman then I'm just gonna stroke out and die right here

I can't see Johnson getting to us, if he does I'll have a massive grin.

Goater you just never know. Goater looks high energy, kicking could be improved but it's because he's going 100 miles an hour.

Knevitt should get to us, and I actually think he is more a Forward/Mid, rather than other way. He can really mark the ball at the pointy end, particularly contested marking. To me his agility looks a bit average, but he is supposedly quick, though it doesn't show to me on the ground. It might be just the first few steps on a lead you might notice it, rather than at full flight with ball in hand, which to me suggests he looks more a Forward. But if you recruit Knevitt as a Forward, are you better off with Williams.

Zac Taylor will be available for our picks, and tbh, I think he is better than Sheldrick.

Not getting Aleer is a bit annoying. I think Schlensog will be available as a Rookie anyway.

I'm also not sure Fejo Jnr will make it to Pick 50, but I guess we could trade into the 40s without too much cost. I think he'll be gone around 45. To me he looks the best Outside Winger in that draft range and we will need it, Duncan, Smith, Tuohy, all getting on.

Got to hand it to the Swans, one of the most consistently good draft acts going around - love their call on Sheldrick. Well, we should get 3 really good players for our first 3 picks, and a couple of pretty good shots with around 40 and 60 ish. I hope McDonald and/or Draper are one of the early ones, and a mature ready to go like Clarke in the mids, or Dean at KPD with one of the last 2. Also have a nagging feeling that Dont get the Conway stuff but if they pick Knevitt then I trust em to make a good call there. If they did then we are going to be a huge team in the future with Stephens and Knevitt running around regulating in the midfield.

Good news is we have guaranteed access to 2 of johnson/sonsie/knevitt/taylor/goater/draper/mcdonald/howes which is a great result and really vindicates the trade up to 25 imo.

Be interesting to see what we do with key defender at 32 now aleer has gone early.
