Before a ball is bounced stick your neck out and predict the cats season!
I thought last year was a false economy given the nature of the season with shorter quarters, less games and hub life. Cats did well under those conditions!
Back to 20 minute quarters, 22 games and MCG finals added to less rotations makes it a tough ask for the cats.
I think our midfield is too old! They mostly hover around the 30 age mark! Even the recruits that can play midfield are 30+!
Hence Simpson, narkle, clarke , constable and Parfitt really need to provide that internal midfield growth if we are to contend.
If you bring in Cameron for 3 first rounders then top 4 is simply not enough as we’ve achieved that many times without him. Another grand final with a premiership medal has to be the goal.
I see us falling short yet again as our old midfield feel their legs at the big MCG come finals time!
What are your predictions for the cats in 2021?

- Highest points for of any side yet no individual within 10 goals of the coleman
- Mark Blicavs All Australian
- No 2020 draftee to debut in the seniors
- Gary Rohan to be "injury" subbed in at least 1 final
- Jordan Clark to play minimum 18 games unless injured
- Jenkins to record no more than 5 hit outs to advantage all season regardless of games played
- Mark Blicavs best and fairest
- Smith to once again win us a final after the siren
- top 4 Cats, dogs, Tigers, Port
- Flag

2021 predictions:
  • Hawkins will win the Coleman again despite Jeremy Cameron coming in.
  • If he's named round 1, Francis Evans will play the full year.
  • Duncan injury is worse than they're letting on - will play less than half the season.
  • One of Smith, Menegola, or Duncan will make way for Jordan Clark on a wing.
  • Cooper Stephens won't debut.
  • Narkle won't play at AFL level.
  • All-Australians: Danger, Hawkins, Blicavs.
  • Top Brownlow votes: Danger
  • B&F: Danger
  • Best first year player: Nick Stevens.
  • Selwood will be the sole retirement at the end of the year.
  • Parfitt, Henry, O'Connor, Atkins and Miers will all go to another level.
  • Close, Constable, Jenkins, Brownless, Narkle, and Zach Guthrie will all be delisted.

I just have a feeling dads army mite fall in a hole late in the season this year and we go out in straight sets again, I hope not but just have a feeling

These will probably all be wrong but that's half the fun of it I guess.

  • We'll make it to a Prelim but no further.
  • Hawkins to be our leading goalkicker again.
  • Dangerfield will win another B&F.
  • Stewart will be our only AA.
  • O'Connor and Atkins will be by far our biggest improvers. O'Connor will be very close to winning AA honours.
  • The ruck position will as usual be our major point of weakness.
  • Jordan Clark's form will be up and down, mixing brilliant games with absolute shockers. The "Clark debate" will be the new "Guthrie debate" on BigFooty, with 2021 being the first year of a seven year war on this forum about Jordan's abilities.
  • By the end of the year O'Connor will be the consensus pick among the fanbase as Selwood's successor.
  • This will be Joel's last year. He'll still be a warrior in 2021 but he won't dominate games like he used to. He'll poll Brownlow votes in maybe 2 or 3 games at most.
  • Parfitt won't make the step up people are expecting.
  • Neither Hawkins or Cameron will finish in the top 3 of the Coleman. They won't even be close to winning it.
  • Gryan Miers will be dropped at some point.
  • Daniher and/or Hipwood will get a hold of us in Round 2 in a surprise loss to Brisbane, sparking much conversation in the supporter base about how we "miss Harry more than we expected"

Cooper playing well. DeKoning with our only goal.

It looked like Cooper Stephens has done his knee.
He was carried off the ground. Did not look good.
I hope to be proven wrong.

Reported to be an ankle issue

I hope that it is not too severe then.
I was on the other side of what is a very large ground.

You forgot one
Danger won't be a premiership player
At least he didn't have his Brownlow striped off him like Watson

Now run along back to the Essendon board, I'm quite sure there's a bit to talk about there since you guys gave up a 40pt lead to lose

Predictions (yep, a pessimist I am but these were pretty much my thoughts before by yesterday’s shocker) -

Finish - 5-9 (H&A about 12-14 wins, maybe win first final)
B&F - Cuthrie, Blitz tie. Danger next
Highest Brownlow- Danger (mid teens)
Highest goal kicker - Hawk (40s, then Cameron 20s)
Best performed recruit - Smith
Best younger recruit- Holmes (albeit with injury challenges).
Surprise packet - Jarvis
VFL team finish runners up, with some cause for optimism (got to have something positive in here).

‘No surprise packet’ 1. Coaches shamelessly rort the 23rd player sub and nearly all subbed A graders play the following week against good opponents)
2. Hawk suspended in contentious circumstances
3. Stanley injury leads to recall for Fort, then Fort injury leads to Sav, etc Blitz is 1st ruck by year end.
4. Chipping game plan persists throughout season, and criticisms by fans and press persists as does summary ‘shut downs’ by Chris and coaching staff.

Premiers - Richmond beat Weagles
Big improvers - Carlton
Brownlow- Dusty (but only after being contentiously cleared of same offence that Hawk nailed on) in front of Neale and Cripps.
