I seem like I am alone here, but I think a spoon is incredibly damaging. Some clubs just never recover, and others never really rise (think Carlton, St Kilda…). If we want to be a proud and respected club, we should be trying as hard as we friggin can to avoid a back to back spoon imo.
So goater looks like he was playing primarily off half back with those stats? The weekends NAB League midfielders who we may have interest in.
Ben Hobbs 34 Disposals, 19 Kicks, 15 Handballs, 4 Marks, 4 Tackles. 5 i50's, 3 r50's, 1 goal 2 points.
Zac Taylor 37 Disposals, 10 Kicks, 27 Handballs, 4 Marks, 3 Tackles, 4 i50's
Josh Goater 28 Disposals, 21 Kicks, 7 Handballs, 11 Marks, 1 i50, 8 r50's
Liam Conway 35 Disposals, 20 Kicks, 15 Handballs, 5 Marks, 3 Tackles, 5 i50's. 5 r50's, 1 goal 2 points
Mitch Knevitt 28 Disposals, 12 Kicks, 16 Handballs, 3 Marks, 6 Tackles, 4 i50's, 1 goal 1 point
Josh Trudgeon 34 Disposals,13 Kicks, 21 Handballs, 7 Marks, 7 Tackles, 5 i50's, 3 r50's, 1 goal 1 point

If we're talking trading - sending Jonathan Hay to North Melbourne for a first round pick was a dog act too.
I have to be honest. I agree.I seem like I am alone here, but I think a spoon is incredibly damaging. Some clubs just never recover, and others never really rise (think Carlton, St Kilda…). Bergman is okay, but feels like the kind of footballer that is reasonably easy to find in a draft.Me too, but Bergman still a very good player.
At this point, I'm not really concerned about where we finish. We've had a reasonable year and given opportunities to the kids. I'd like to blood a couple more, and that would be a year that's been quite productive. Those clubs were long damaged before their spoon happened. Like we were we damaged for a while before it culminated with a spoon.
A 6 win spoon is a rare feat, so likely it's not that damaging on it own. Just a bit of bad luck as we did everything we feasibly could to avoid it.
I presume you are throwing his name up as a possible 2nd round pick? His Falcons season stats are :
R2 vs Rebels 16D -13K - 3Hb - 4M
R4 vs Pioneers 27D -14K - 13Hb - 5M
R5 vs Giants 21D - 11K - 10Hb - 4M
R7 vs Rebels 20D - 12K - 8Hb - 4 M
R8 vs Pioneers 28D - 14K -14Hb - 4M
R9 vs Power 16D - 5K - 11Hb - 4M
R11 vs Cannons 27D - 12K - 15Hb - 6M
R15 vs Jets 28D - 12K - `6Hb - 3M
And in the VC vs VM Challenge match - 22 disposals, six marks, four clearances, four inside 50s and two score assists.
No.
They reached for Doedee and they were right.
Gallucci was a bad call, but was about his draft ranking.
Jones and McHenry were both drafted about where they were forecast to go, as was McAsey. I'm not that worried about all three coming on, but fair enough if you consider them or Fogarty to be bad calls
First round picks in the last decade were:
Lever (excellent), Milera and Doedee (very good), Gallucci (terrible), Fogarty (good) plus Jones, McHenry and McAsey.
Most were pretty predictable.
The non first rounders are interesting. Schoenberg, Sholl, Butt, Keays, McPherson, ROB. I think there's some positives there.
Finishing bottom and getting the wooden spoon isn’t a culture killer. Losing games on purpose is.
Tigers are on record that they would have selected Galluci if we hadn’t taken him. In hindsight he’s been a poor player, but it wasn’t a poor selection at the time, he was on the radar of a lot of clubs.

I don't think that even if the club does lose its last 3 games that it will finish bottom even if the hawks finish above us and North finish above us as GC loom as a club that could get belted each week from here on in and finish bottom on %...if their game on the weekend is anything to go byI think you’re nuts if you think anyone other than over invested supporters gives a fat rats clacker about spoon this or spoon that
I mean who gives a fu** about finishing 2nd last - woo hoo, at least we didn’t get the spoon! So what
Joel Selwood but with an overhead marking game.
I want to death ride someone. Who’s ripe for the taking?
The reason people and saying split and downgrade, is because we don't trust recruiting to pick and elite star at 3.
Need to draft an outside mid with speed. Just need to find another Dangerfield.
Can we stop this talk about trading next years and this years for pick one. We would be the dumbest club ever to do that. If we trade a second and this years first, I’d be ok with it but next year we will want someone else that’s going to be a star. We have only ever had 3 pick under 5 in our existence and only used 1, why would we not use it and get a gun midfielder to develop.
we will be bottom 2 next year unless Tex has another good year. Let’s stay in reality not dreamland
In the last decade we've only had three top 10 picks, and only one in the top 5 (though we traded down from 4 to 6)
Did getting the wooden spoon last year 'damage our psyche'?
Goaters kick to handball ratio is good, and 11 marks![]()
Obviously Horne is a star but can be a bit inconsistent with his kicking almost like Danger but not as bad.
People barely remember and nobody cares about the Tippett fiasco, about Carlton's salary cap cheating. We move on pretty quickly.
I guess times have changed.I love that in a prospect!Doesn’t lack confidence the lad .
“I would say I’m skilful, smart, composed and have the ability to go forward and impact the scoreboard,” Roberts said. “I look at Marcus Bontempelli to model my game off, I’m not as tall as him but I feel we have similar attributes, such as being a left footer, a good ball user and decision maker and being able to impact up forward.”
Can remember a freshly drafted N Buckley saying he counted his kicks and gets the best out of himself and has had to wear the tag Fig Jam ever since
I guess times have changed.
Are you American ?I love that in a prospect!

Why do you ask?Are you American ?![]()

I don’t mind a bit of self confidence either , but cant remember Walsh or Rowell talking themselves up too much, they just let the journalists do it after doing their talking on field.I love that in a prospect!
Nah, Horne is definitely not an elite kick but no way is he as bad as you're making out and I'd absolutely take his kicking over Patty. At worst he's an average kick, personally I'd class his kicking as competent for an AFL player.Wonder who people think is the best and most complete midfielder in the draft if we could choose anyone.

How’d he go this weekend bicks ?Think this young fella might be moving into our want for a tall midfielder discussions before too long...Mitch KnevittView attachment 1193321
