Sholl has been on the list for 3 years? Including a full year of sanfl, plenty of fitness gained in that time.
He's not a kid out of under 18s..
Far to many excuses for him on here.. he is soft (VERY) and drops his bundle easily if he makes errors.
Has plenty of talent but needs to put it together next year.
As long as he's confused and thinks he's Forrest Gump, yes I agree.Hate to agree with such an obvious pear troll, but I think this is fair
I’d happily package Sholl and #4 to North to move up

He has to change his mindset and realise his actual weapon is his kick, not his run.
You look at those with amazing disposal and you are them take their time to set up their kick. That's what Sholl must learn to do.
Sure having a good tank is great, but don't run yourself into the ground pointlessly, learn to be a smarter runner.
Nah I was referring to this Bluebird..
Maybe I'm showing my age...actually saw Donald Campbell and his Bluebird passing through Pt.Augusta on it's way to Lake Eyre as a very young kid.
- perhaps if you used his K7 instead of the Quinnie to go fishing on the West Coast you could have launched at Port Augusta and you would have got there quicker. Log in to remove this Banner Ad
Almost there not quite. The most important tool for playing the wing is knowing exactly how you actually play it. You have to have a very clear understanding of the role - where to run, how to maintain your position. You don’t have to be express speed or a marathon man.I disagree. Kicking is not a tool someone can make a career out of in a difficult position such as wing, and if Sholl focused in that direction, he's delisted in 2-3 years. He might be able to at half back, but even then Sholl likely needs to develop some intercept ability and have that being his one wood.
Your main weapon has to be a tool that allows you to be able to rack up opportunities to impact the game. It doesn't help in Sholls case the easiest way isn't present in his game which is explosive acceleration. In Sholls case, his career does live and die on his running power. After all, that's the ticket to enhancing his accumulation as well as giving him something to impact defensively. Even if it is just being able to reliably zone. Kicking skills are the icing to that and is what'll push him to give an AA spot a good shake once the cake is there.
Yep … 3rd rounderFinlayson would just about be a salary dump. He’s an ok player, but GWS might need to shed some salary with the Kelly extension kicking in. 3rd rounder my guess. Surely there’s zero chance anyone uses a first to get him.

Biggest concern for Sholl is that he’s soft and can’t win any one on ones in space yet against another winger.I disagree. No he's left the academy. Nice guy. Great athlete. Horrible foot skills. Not what we want.Do we still have ties to Leek Aliir?

You can teach players lots of things and the they can learn from them but can you teach someone to be aggressive???
It might not be a concern to you but any one that watches football should be concerned with Sholl's back half of the season....he was awful and there's no way of skirting around that. His lack of contested ball winning was why he slipped dramatically down the draft board in his draft year and once AFL teams came very aware of his hurt factor by foot when allowed to run around like an unregistered stray dog they put time into him and clamped down....all of a sudden his kicking now under a lot more pressure from opponents started to suffer. It isn't a concern. He's an outside midfielder, and the vast majority are all varying degrees of soft. It's a bit of a necessary evil to deal with when someone builds their game away from the coalface/or contest. As long as those defensive numbers aren't at a point where Sholl is a genuine liability, it's at an ok level. He never reached that point in 2021, though it's certainly not a stretch to say he could easily get to that Lukosious level of "oh sh*t, this kid is as one way as it gets" as Sholl was saved by an unusually strong pressure act number (considering how rough the tackles were). Certainly, an area that needs work, and hopefully another year in the gym helps convert pressure acts to tackles (it's 1.2/14.5, whereas someone like Luko is 1.5/8.8 to give an example of equivalent t and PA).
The Andrew Gaffs of this world are well and truly the exception, not the norm.
Of course more attention on a young player makes their job harder - makes them produce less.It might not be a concern to you but any one that watches football should be concerned with Sholl's back half of the season....he was awful and there's no way of skirting around that. Well good for you that you're not concerned with Sholl's back half of the year....I am.Of course more attention on a young player makes their job harder - makes them produce less.
It's part of the learning process to becoming a good player. Would you rather players that don't warrant attention?
Hell Sloane struggles with attention!!!!
I think we need to always remember that the path towards being a good AFL footballer is not linear AND very rarely is there a need to panic over the trajectory of a 27 game player. Let him get to 50 games and see where he sits on the curve.

West AdelaideI don't count players 2nd years, wipe them out, most players are **** .......IMO it's great for Sholls development that he had a shyte year ....he'll work hard in the off-season, far harder than if he had repeated the standard of his 1st yearWell good for you that you're not concerned with Sholl's back half of the year....I am.
Time will of course be the judge but I find it a concern.
His last game he was an absolute non entity in the SANFL.

I think/hope he blew up early in the season with all the running. Hit the wall and the grind of the season impacted him.It might not be a concern to you but any one that watches football should be concerned with Sholl's back half of the season....he was awful and there's no way of skirting around that. Get back to me mid season 2022 cause I'll sure as Hell get back to you should his decline continue.I don't count players 2nd years, wipe them out, most players are **** .......IMO it's great for Sholls development that he had a sh*te year ....he'll work hard in the off-season, far harder than if he had repeated the standard of his 1st year

And not one contested ball get in those highlights![]()
Best kick in the draft with AFL royalty in his bloodline

West AdelaideAnd that's my assessment of a lot of junior footage .....most players look good doing circle work, I want to see how they react under pressure, real pressure .....don't need to see a lot of footage, but many look a $M left alone, but are like a deer in the headlights under pressure .....or they're too slow to reactAnd not one contested ball get in those highlights
You've never really liked him though.Well good for you that you're not concerned with Sholl's back half of the year....I am.
