Ha ha - as I remember I put up the injury on the draft board (as I was at the match) and to be absolutely fair you had first call on the seriousness of it.

How about we call that one a draw!
Sucked in I would've given you the win

Morgan Ferres has kicked 7.4 today at u18 level against Centrals, second game at the level after kicking 6.4 in round 1. We still need mids but Ferres would be a really good 2nd/3rd tall for our forward line. Dudley with 22 disposals and 2.2 in the same game.

What is Ferres height and weight? Is he key position or a bit smaller?

Is this still relevant? From Jan 2021

The championships have been lifted to be under-19 and under-17 age groups next year in a raft of moves after a review of the talent pathway during the COVID-19 hit 2020 season.

Under the fixture, the carnival will commence with a game in July but will see the key matches involving Vic Country, Vic Metro, South Australia and Western Australia take place late in September and early in October over three weeks.

I think he's around the 190cm and I did read somewhere he hadn't grown much recently and although he plays KPF for Sturt U18's he's probably a 3rd tall forward at AFL level. Quite athletic and agile and great overhead but a tad unreliable with his goal kicking. Probably not going to see too much of him with his St. Peters school footy commitments but he's obviously a class above U18's level at this point so it will be interesting to see if he gets a gig at League level for Sturt later in the year. Mitch Georgiades might be a somewhat reasonable comparison if I had to have a stab at "plays like".

Has a different kicking action, but he looks good

Spot on with player comparison- Georgiadis is very comparable with size and style. Both boys are very strong marks and play tall.

Ferres very athletic too - tested last year well for speed and endurance. Should improve on that this year. Kicked 13 in his 2 U18 games so yes bit to good for U18. He did win a promotion to reserves and played 2 games before school footy stopped him. He had a goal in each of those 2 reserves games. Also played a very good school game against Sacred Heart who are the college pace setters this year.

He’s had a very good year overall and Stocks rising all the time, he will be a great Addition to any club.

Yeah I’m high on Ferres for us. Athletic, good overhead, not tall enough to be a genuine KPF at AFL level but would fit in seamlessly next to RT/Fog as the 3rd tall type. Need to watch more of him, but from what I’ve seen/heard he’s got a good amount of talent

With wins to Collingwood and Hawthorn, we are still a chance of ending up with pick 2 or 3…..could also be 7 or 8 as well!

With Hawks, let's see if they win any games if they're a chance of moving up the table ;) Pies - well GWS have their r1 pick so they probably don't care if they move up ... but they're about to have a new coach so anything could happen. I think pick 3 is about the best we can get to :$

Can't see Hawthorn going above us.

Fair to say Roberts will be very lucky to play any games at the champs....we know what he can do, gun.

Gives another kid a chance to show their wares at the champs
That’s fine
If we end up with pick 7 or 8 him having no championships favours our chances of him making it that pick

Comes from a good family so Hamish will like him ;)

Is he worth it? Haven't seen him play much.
Roberts given he's a goal kicking midfielder with excellent skills and a well rounded game has to be one of the very best mid/forwards in this draft, not to mention his very penetrating kick.

Spot on about that kick. Left footer and it’s a beauty. He’d give old Smithy a run on that metres gained stat and it wouldn’t be kick outs either!

Matthew will win a clearance but his spread and that kick - goes bang. He racks up an absolute pile of inside 50’s every game he plays which is what I like most.

Roberts putting those 50m left foot rockets into Riley would be a thing of beauty I reckon. Or there is a bit of footage of him kicking a goal from inside the centre square during U18 game so maybe they’ll just sail straight over the big blokes head ha ha.
