Surely the Crows just want to hit the next 1-2 drafts hard and build up the midfield depth?

I could see them live trading up the 2022 1st round pick if they snag Roberts & Draper is still on the board, but they might have to sweeten the deal a little bit.
Draper will go around pick 15 or so - we're not trading our 2022 1st for that.

Don't be too sure about that just yet, lot of water to go under the bridge yet and Arlo stepped up to the next level for the Panthers Reserves with ease on the weekend so another step up to SANFL League might not be out of the question as the year goes on. Another mid that hits the scoreboard and has an all round game.

You've got the digital pass so it might be worth your time to go watch Arlo's game on the weekend.

What the hell is in the water down there? Horne, Roberts, Draper …

Indeed - and I forgot Isaac Birt who was mentioned here by Mutineer.

I saw South’s U13 and 14’s a few weeks ago and I can promise you the factory ain’t slowing down.
South might put together a Central District's style run over the next decade

Tom Highmore also, already notched up 6 AFL games this season and good against us the other night.
Also Phoenix Spicer at 42 to The Kangas and Beau McCreery, Pick 44 to Collingwood - McCreery already looking like a better, quicker, tougher small forward than J Rowe at Pick 38.

They even improved Paul Hunter as ruckman leading to his rookie listing by St Kilda after delisting by the Crows .... but not by much.

Big call mate. I’m not disputing it, but almost no one has him in the best 5 players in the comp.

I could see it happening, he has the attributes that could see him shoot up the order if he has a big carnival. I hope he stays under the radar a bit though, I want him and Roberts, possibly Ferres too who I think will go higher than the 20+ range some are currently predicting.

Arlo Draper was my pick for our first rounder if Horne was gone.
Not prolific in the midfield yet but very versatile and good up forward with a bit of height
I think that our 1st pick has to be used on a primary mid rather than a versatile player type. If it is possible and the club is thinking that way, then look to try and trade our 2nd rounder and the melbourne 2nd + maybe a future pick if needed to get back into the teens to go for draper

Yep - if Horne is out of reach - and he is now - then after listening to PeterJ on the CC I am bullish on these 3

Roberts has an elite leg and ball gathering
Draper is an X factor who clubs could punt on early or leave late - but 15-25 is his range
Ferres is shooting up and would be 20-30 range

Understanding National Champs could push all of these numbers in or out

Then give the Matt compo for Dawsom and walk Stephens to the rookie draft. Sydney piss me off with their academy players, **** them.

That might actually be fun to do on a bye weekend.

I rate Draper - I just think there's a few others before him and he'll stay around the teens.

I don't think our current picks of 26 and 37 will get us a pick in the teens.
The other local option is Roberts but I think he offers pretty much what we already have in the midfield.
I think Draper is a midfielder and would offer a point of difference to what we already have.
I am a bit bias to SA lads but there are probably plenty of good Victorian kids that we could also look at.

Can't agree with your assessment of Roberts at all.

He's a better kick than any midfielder currently on our list, can win his own ball inside the contest and is equally adept outside the contest offering run and carry along with the link up option....and most importantly he's a goal kicking midfielder. I really can't pick any weaknesses in his game unless you think I'm missing something? And that piercing, penetrating left boot is a thing of beauty.
