Weekend Wrap and "Liked, Learned, Hated" right here -- How did tipping go?
West AdelaideThat's simply a herd mentality prevailing, not Clubland view ....maybe clubs will prefer a more contested playerWho is going to be taken before Callaghan?
Virtually everyone has him locked in top 4 now and I can't see anyone moving up enough.
This will be the highest pick we have used on a midfielder if we take one.
Nek Minnit
Looks a bit superstitious as well, no pick 13

Definitely not best 22. The fact that Murray overtook him off the rookie list must sting Ogilvie. He really ****ed that one up.At this point, we could use anyone available in the draft to replace McAsey. He's not a best 22 player at this juncture.
Now I wonder who it was that brought Murray in for the Crows coaches to appraise Muzza?Definitely not best 22. The fact that Murray overtook him off the rookie list must sting Ogilvie. He really f’ed that one up.

That makes stuffing up the McAsey pick somehow even worse. Now I wonder who it was that brought Murray in for the Crows coaches to appraise Muzza?
Put those latent brain cells of yours to some use maybe and figure it out?![]()
I'd rather Hamish be nailing first rounders than rookies selections. Now I wonder who it was that brought Murray in for the Crows coaches to appraise Muzza?

McAsey certainly hasn't done a lot to instill confidence that he's going to be worthy of his draft position but then again the bloke many wanted us to take with the original pick 4 Dylan Stephens is also yet to set the World on fire. That makes stuffing up the McAsey pick somehow even worse.
Dont think herd mentality applies for the top 4 or 5 most years. That's simply a herd mentality prevailing, not Clubland view ....maybe clubs will prefer a more contested player
In a 50/50 call Clubs will go for need
Still a lot at play ....and there will be late charges up the rankings ...like Mac Andrew
Yep - Clubs boards and media boards nothing alike , some club to club boards nothing alike eitherAt this point during 2015, no one was even talking about Clayton Oliver
At this point during 2020 no one had heard of, let alone started discussing Luke Pedlar
Not to mention Luke Jackson
so all this idea of a consensushaving emerged is rubbish. No one knows anything. We have no idea what real boards look like, and it doesn’t matter if Cam Twomey posts an update 3 times weekly or once a year, there isn’t a way to pretend we do not what real draft boards look like
You might want to check some archives. At this point during 2015, no one was even talking about Clayton Oliver

To be fair, Luke Jackson was definitely heard of as a top 10-15 prospect early in the year, not quite in the Oliver/Pedlar categoryAt this point during 2015, no one was even talking about Clayton Oliver

West AdelaideThink the point Sanders was making was Jackson was, as you say, looked at in that late teens pick .....no-one thought he was a chance to go where he did eventuallyTo be fair, Luke Jackson was definitely heard of as a top 10-15 prospect early in the year, not quite in the Oliver/Pedlar category
But your point very much still stands
Yeah I agree with that. Just saying that Oliver/Pedlar are in a completely different category of their own, in that they weren’t really given any public thought at the beginning of their 18th year (in comparison to Jackson)Think the point Sanders was making was Jackson was, as you say, looked at in that late teens pick .....no-one thought he was a chance to go where he did eventually

My point is that Jackson was actually on the public radar throughout his draft year, unlike the other three. Not ‘top 3’ radar, but still well-known. He might have been top 3 all year in the minds of clubs, just like Pedlar might have been in that 10-20 range all year in clubland, but Jackson didn’t come out of *complete* no man’s land around draft time, from a public perspective (like Oliver/Doedee/Pedlar did)nah. It’s the same thing. No idea if they were good and how good they were
doedee!
it was a draft bolter, these guys were absolutely worth where they went and more
the reason is because no one knows anything
when all the dumb ass amateur observing community is sleeping on:
Oliver
Doedee
Jackson
Pedlar
and the clubs:
1. Rated them much higher
2. Were right to rate them so high
Was that a coincidence or just more proof that the magic 8 ball guesses a few right, but they’re still just guessing

I do agree with the rest of your point

Again, I agree, just thought in your original post you were insinuating no-one in the public was talking about Jackson in general (rather than as a top-3 pick), considering you lumped him in with Oliver/Pedlarthere is only one question:
Do public assessments have any relationship with the reality of club land?
No
the end
