Are we talking Kings Ransom again for JHF? Cause make no mistake that's what it will cost!

I seriously doubt they would even take 4 + our 2022 1st.

I've put that dream to bed.
It would take multiple top picks and our best key position player IMO

Kicked a brilliant goal in the 3rd as well, 50m gut run to give and get with a diving mark, followed by a snap from the boundary.
Yeah he has impressed me a couple of times I've watched him closely, lightly built still so most likely he'll take some time.

Playing half forward/wing today?

Not watching the game currently but I'll have a squiz tonight on the digital pass.

How many players in the AFL are worth two top five picks?
If we had a player like Bontempelli I wouldn't trade him for two top 5 picks.

If North think he is of that calibre two top 5 picks won't be enough

4, 2022/1 to GC for 3, 19, 2022/2 (GC don't need all these picks)
GC 2022/2 for Dawson
19, 23, 37 (or Kelly compo) to Pies for 2022/1

Then assuming GWS would prefer a KPP,
2, 2022/2 (Giants) for 3, 2022/2 (Crows).

Then we just need JHF to get past North where we hope JHF does his bit. 🤫

2021 picks are JHF, Butts and Strachan upgrades
2022 picks are then pies 1st, giants 2nd
I'm gonna need a whiteboard for this. It's too complicated for me!

Very, very few unless you're a contending team and those teams rarely have the kind of draft collateral available to trade out, GWS might be the only team that could currently do that but it would more likely be for a KPP in their case.

Granted there isn't many.

Pick 6 and probably around around 6-10 is a stretch, but if there's a kid who is worth it, this kid being a local superstar would be it.

If the draft upgrade is too high, we go hard to bring him home in two years.

The Dawson trade will plant a seed of doubt in recruiters minds...

It might, but we still need to have improved on field in the meantime. Dawson wants to come home, but given was a Crows fan and we offered more coin it's not a shocker.

If we are still in the same position in 2 years time it won't be as attractive.

Yeah mostly HF pushing through the midfield. Pleased to see the Dogs get through - they’ll get Linke & Dudley back for the GF so plenty worth watching from a draft perspective.

It's interesting .....North Take Phillips last year, when theu should have taken a tall in a talls Draft .....this year another quality mid is at their pick & they will take JFH no doubt

But the messed up last year

I don't think our list managers see it that way. We even had another crack at Kelly although we didn't want to go anywhere near his 8x1m trigger he had with GWS.

I think they see Phillips as the eventual replacement for Cunnington, JHF doesn't change that.

I get that many on here have great knowledge of the draft kids and I love reading the insights, but the constant ‘take the best available no matter where they are from’ and then dismissing those who want SA kids needs a spell.

It’s a perfectly valid view to favour local talent based on Dangerfield, Lever and Gunston going home. That sort of thing leaves a scar. Then you also have to pay more to retain blokes like Sloane on ridiculous contracts. In contrast, there was absolutely no stress with Thilthorpe’s contract renewal.

There are always exceptions both ways and obviously most of our list will still be Victorian, but anytime elite local talent is available we should be positioning ourselves in the draft as best as possible to get it.

The ol conundrum...where to play horne francis in the side..the answer, anywhere he wants to

Phillips will be a good player. Yeah I agree i could see North taking Callaghan and Horne slipping to Gws. I'm sure North would love Horne but not for only 3 or 4 years before he comes back to Adelaide. Horne going to Gws would be a good result for us (if we can't get him)as he would be easier to get back home.
If Horne-Francis isn't draft by the Crows he'll never play for us, if he's coming home it's to Port and only Port

Why ??

I realise Fabian played for Port but he's not that highly thought of there as a past player

Yeah I know. If he comes back he will be down at alberton. North may take him and get a 250 game player. There's no guarantee he will best mid out of this draft anyway. Time to move on from him.

Start planning now by building a war chest. If he's as good as everyone hopes, it will be worth the price... and we'll be ready!

Carlton traded pick 3, 20 and JJK for Chris Judd.
Carlton could have drafted Dangerfield, Jack Steven and kept JJK and had some change left.

I'd prefer to keep TT, draft best mid available at 4 and use pick 23 on Dawson.

After that trade 1 club has won a couple of flags and the other is still a basket case.

Next years draft is looking a cracker
