Just off the top of my head...Darcy and Daicos not included
If I'm picking for us it has to be a focus on mids or players that look likely to transition into the midfield.
1. Jason Horne Francis
2. Josh Goater
3. Neil Erasmus
4. Ben Hobbs
5 Finn Callaghan
6. Josh Sinn
7. Josh Ward
8. Ned Long
9. Arlo Draper
10. Campbell Chesser
Players I fancy with later picks
Kai Lohmann - X factor medium forward with traits I think can transition into the midfield. (Very bullish about this lad)
Mitch Knevitt - Tall midfielder
Zac Taylor - Highly skilled midfielder
Sam Butler - Quick Impactful Mid/forward (edited to include)
James Willis - Explosive mid/forward
Cooper Murley - Speedy smaller mid/forward
Brady Hough - Mid/Forward
Judson Clarke - Clever small forward
Jamieson Ballantyne - Classy moving Wingman with great skills
Charlie Molan - High footy I'Q. medium defender/mid
Paul Curtis - Small forward.
Rookie favourites
Jordan Lukac - Athletic KPF
Isaac Birt - Speedy high endurance wingman with a penetrating kick.
The fascination is fact. Can you point me to where I said he was 186cm
And I just don't get this board's fascination with "big" midfielders either, Hobbs is not a short arse, he'd be right in the mean average for AFL midfielders I would think and already better built than most of them. I just want top notch midfielders and he projects as being just that, and I certainly won't be disappointed if he was the player Hamish selected.
The fascination is fact.
Go watch the Grandfinal.. Bont/Oliver/Petracca then give us your expert opinion on how short people
are just as good.
Plus those 3 players are good contested marksOr mere coincidences. After all, we're not long removed from the days that Ablett was the most destructive midfielder out.
Likely there is more to be said how important power/explosive acceleration is to have in abundance in a midfield rotation compared to height.

Yeah it always come back to Ablett.. no doubt a gun in his prime 10 yrs ago.Or mere coincidences. After all, we're not long removed from the days that Ablett was the most destructive midfielder out.

Hobbs is 183cm. That is hardly a midget. The fascination is fact.

No current season stats available
Have I?You've normally got a bit of respect for Cal Twomey's Draft order, what do you think about him rating Goater at 18 this morning in his Draft update?
Correct he's around the mean average for current AFL midfielders and bigger bodied than a lot of them already....will be interesting to see his and others measurements after tomorrow's Vic Country Combine over in Bendigo.Hobbs is 183cm. That is hardly a midget.
Yeah it always come back to Ablett.. no doubt a gun in his prime 10 yrs ago.
The game has moved on.
If GWS & GC are both potentially looking at talls with their picks, then I don’t see any way we split 4 until draft night, if at all. Our pick essentially becomes the pick of all non-JHF mids, or we get a Vic club willing to sell the farm to get a hold of someone they love (Callaghan?).
Or in a pipe dream world, North are gonna take Callaghan at pick 1 and it's why we are so interested in Pick 2.... Because JHF will be sitting there for us.If they don’t speak with him JHF can’t tank the interview….
GC and GWS take Andrew and Gibcus, we get stuck with JHF at 4Or in a pipe dream world, North are gonna take Callaghan at pick 1 and it's why we are so interested in Pick 2.... Because JHF will be sitting there for us.
Yeah your right Ablett was still so unbelievably good 3yrs ago he was doing monos in his wheel chair..Of course, it does, Ablett is the pinnacle this century. Nor is it that far, seeing his prime wound up 3ish years ago.
The game hasn't moved anywhere near what you think it has.

If JHF is there at pick 2, clubs will be moving heaven and earth to get that pick and if GWS are set on Mac Andrews they'd be silly to turn down a pick between 4 and 8ish and a 1st next yearGC and GWS take Andrew and Gibcus, we get stuck with JHF at 4
BontYeah your right Ablett was still so unbelievably good 3yrs ago he was doing monos in his wheel chair..
Rule changes alone have changed the game in the space of one season let alone ten.
Write down your top ten mids and let me know how many short people you have![]()
What are people's views on Hobbs? Looks like a good option to me. And also from Horsham so less "go home" factor
