Wonder if we're thinking about our future 1st for Dawson and Sydney's 12 this year? That's the only way I can see us giving up one of our first rounders.

Maybe then give 12 for Carlton's future 1st to help with the Cerra deal

Still lots of wheeling and dealing to be done

Definitely think we are right in the thick of all the trades.

Sounds like we have had a gutful of Sydney's posturing - the threat of walking Dawson to the PSD is now very real.

I would offer nothing more than next year's 2nd now

Just remember how last years draft pick swaps went. A LOT of backend picks went for little or nothing after points were grabbed up by clubs with F/S and NGA. List numbers are still reduced and total players taken at the draft on unexposed form will still be low. Trading back-end picks and turning it into a very safe 1st rounder next year is smart thinking.

Smart if we retain it, not so smart unless it's our final offer for Dawson.

Time to update again Deaneus!

So our picks 23, 37 and 44 are gone ......leaves #33, #62, #66 #75

Best (& worst) part of this?

It gives all of us amateur list management schmucks an opportunity to continue our play station trades in the future, as we now have another multiple team trade to point to as evidence that we aren't completely deluded.

I don't hate this, although it would make next season a bit more stressful!

No bad parts ..... #23 and #44 for MELB's 1st (2022) and #33

ATS means we only have #4 and #33 of any note .....but at best we were going to lose #23 anyway for Dawson

We may still lose that Melb 1st pick ......or we may actually trade it back into 2021 should SYD want either 2021 pick or 2022 pick

Still a lot of time to pass, anything could happen .....example; could we trade Melb's 2022 1st for RICH's #15 x 2021 .....assuming RICH can't bundle #7 and #15 , which I'll assume won't happen

But as none of us saw this trade pick swap coming .....there's still some surprises to come

Adel 2022 1st should not be on the table for Dawson. Would anyone do the deal of pick 4 and the 2 2022 1sts for Horne-Francis?

This is too much to give up, 4 and our future first should be enough for that, But there's no way North do the deal.

Nor would Adelaide .....so you'd give up Thilthorpe and Pedlar for JHF ?

It's easy to playstation talk when they are simply numbers .....put a face to the number and you'll change your thoughts

I agree, i think we should be throwing our Pick 33 this year and our 2nd next year.

When it comes to crunch time next Wednesday, they won't turn down 2 x 2nd rounders for Dawson.

Yep good points

Although it does leave us pretty much pick-less beyond pick 4. We'd really want to hope we hit with our 1st this year

based on those picks ie 4 mcasey, melb 1st is Galucci and crows 2022 1st McDonald at sydney, you do it for JHF. There’s no Dusty, Dangerfield, or Pertraca (x factor mids) apart from JHF in the next 2 drafts. Or do you go with another inside mid in Hobbs with pick 4?

Picking random players from previous drafts as a basis for doing a deal is not viable

Nah ....I'm on the Callaghan / Mac Andrew / Erasmus / Goater train ;)

Point is we don't know for 4 years if we have a Fyfe, Dangerfield, Touk Touk Miller

No. Scratch that - Hell NO!

3x 1st round picks (likely 2 picks in the top-5) is far too high a price to pay for an unproven kid. You might think about paying it for a 2018 vintage Dustin Martin, but not a 0 game 18yo fresh out of the SANFL.

Well... that's back-to-back cups for the Dees now for sure

Also seems like we don't really rate the talent in the back end of the first round/start of the 2nd round.

We pretty keen to move on those picks.

I like the idea of targeting top teams future firsts, I think they are quite likely to undervalue them. Quite a few teams have won a flag and missed finals the next year. Melbourne in particular have been very up and down year by year.

You think so, I don't I think it's sending the Swans a message and it's certainly not what Reid and Nicks were saying a few weeks ago...i.e. hitting the draft hard.
