NWM ? Lukac ? ....no certainty, and needed more exposure

Rayson, Birt ?
I'm not privy to how banged up players are or the coaches selection.

Lukac has been playing with a heavily strapped knee I saw that?

Thought that litster was probably one of our more consistent and tough players. Beat his man on one on one contests on a number of occasions.

a number of players from both sides looked slightly off and jaded.

would not pick Williams from Wa

Yeah, but any other year all these so called overworked players would line up for the National Carnival ......now they're being rested .... JHF ?
Championships are usually played in June/July.

Wouldn't that make a player's workload worse, combining with SANFL duties ?

Too slow and not defensive enough to be a small forwards funnily enough
I think he's sharp enough by mind to make up for the legspeed.

Defensive application is an issue but as a rookie it's not as big a risk.

Unfortunately there are a few busts on that list. This is the reason Reid commented we need to expose the list further

Massive doubts on half the players listed

Who are you calling a bust? Doubts, we can probably all agree, but I don't have any busts yet.

Of course not. Today your watching some 18 year olds coming off full seasons and in some cases having played through either league or reserve finals series. And deeply into those finals series too. Champs in their usual spot has them about or just over half way through their season. No comparison at all.

Surely the state of the list dictates what strategy you proceed with.

Melbourne wants to be good now and will potentially give up some value to get things now.

We're playing a longer game, but might look to adopt a similar strategy to them when our list is in a similar shape.

can’t agree. It’s a philosophical value play, based on whether it’s better to have picks now and get extra development into them, alongside a bet on where the market is pricing picks today’s vs tomorrow

don’t think the state of list matters at all

There were no clear standouts for SA and overall they looked tired - as the game progressed they improved but the first qtr they were brushed off in tackles and outmuscled around the ball.
Morgan Ferres showed a bit
D'Aloia was good
I thought Grubb showed some skills
Not sure if Oloughlin or Dudley make it at AFL level.

Question for someone who knows. If the restricted free agency matching period closes on Monday , and we got pick 40 odd for Kelly and have used it, can we still sign a free agent ? And if so, what happens to that pick 40 we’ve already given away 🤔
I reckon they just revoke our Melbourne first :p

The free agency period finished on Friday, so no more free agents (or compensation).

"Free agents" now need to either stay put, be traded or delisted and then picked up as a delisted free agent.
But didn’t we get the Kelly pick Wednesday? Then traded it? Say we signed Dumont on the Friday, what happens then ?

Won’t get to that. If we really want him, will either wait until he is a DFA or trade one of our junk picks to NM.

That’s not the point.

Trades and free agency signings need to be ticked off by the AFL. The AFL might have allowed the trading of a compo pick on the basis that Adelaide confirm they aren't trading in any other free agents, but that might be giving the AFL too much credit. But the AFL could simply refuse to authorise a free agent signing because the compo pick was traded.

It would be a shemozzle. That could have been fixed by not allowing trading of compo picks until end of free agency period in the first place.

I wonder what our punishment would be for allowing the AFL to make a fool of themselves again (Sorry, Adelaide bringing the game into disrepute) . . . ?

Just run the FA period in week 1, then trades in week 2.

It's not rocket science...but it is the AFL.
