He might be gone. Mids (what we need most other than key forward/back) that might be available to us around out pick are Ward, Hobbs, Rachele, Draper and Sonsie. I would prefer Goater from what I have seen, (which isn't much) over them.

If we go tall, which would be good as long as they are quality, then I'd hope he slips to 15, but I don't think that will happen. Tall, fast, aggressive mids are pretty sought after, looks to have a tonne of potential to me.

Yeah agreed that we need mids. I'd be wary of Rachele given he is more a small forward than a mid. The LAST thing we need right now is another Jack Higgins type that looks great in the u18s but at AFL level is good for about 10-15 possessions and maybe a goal. We have a dearth of players like that. We badly badly need genuine (jen-you-eye-n) midfielders, not just for the future but to re-top us off now whilst we have a bit of a window left. Definitely don't wanna see us drafting anymore Lennon types either, what a waste that was when we coulda had Cripps.

As for Goater, yeah maybe, from what I've seen he doesn't seem much different to Ross/RCD. Where possible we really need that proper mid that gets 30+ and is everywhere. At 7 (9) I worry we're just outside the bracket of getting the player we need. If we take Rachele I'll be very upset. If all the mids are gone like Callaghan, Hobbs, Ward, we may as well just go best available and get the best defender in the crop. Not to meme but we need to stock up there too and Balta can play forward down the track if our defence is well stocked, so would prefer a defender over a forward. Then we can go the ball winners in the 20-30 bracket and hopefully still get some guys with size and the ability to accumulate.

Goater went at 24 disposal a game which is not too shabby. His running and agility seems really good which separates him a bit from Ross and RCD. Bit of a cross between the two actually. But he has real speed, which is such a bonus in AFL these days.

Could someone please send this to all three clubs involved. The Fremantle person who came up with this gave it some really good thought.

I don't know, I still think we could do some amazing future pick trading on draft night with 26,27,28 intact. Plus every high quality pick we give limits in the breath and scope of our regeneration. Very loath to give that up. Plus why 26? I get one of our three 20 picks would be the steak knives but I don't see it has to be that one when we have 28 available.

Ultimately it's about how good is Callaghan. If they are convinced he becomes the next Dusty then fine. If he's just very very good then I'd rather keep our draft hand and just see what unfolds on the draft night(s)

Anyway, they did a live trade between Richmond and Adelaide at Pick 6 (after bids) where Richmond give up 9 and 17 for 6 and 35 (plus future swaps)... and then select Ben Hobbs.

I can't see us doing anything like that when Ben Hobbs could be available at our pick anyway.

I get the feeling we'd only live trade for Callaghan..... maybe Ward.
