Yes I agree, I’d be happy to get Gibcus. It’s the WA talls I’m talking about. Amiss, JVR, Williams and Bazzo were all considered to be picks30+ 2 months ago and not worth an early pick. Now because we have a distinct lack of quality tall players in the draft their positions have been elevated, just because there’s nothing else. This is a midfielders draft and besides gibcus I do not believe we should be looking at these players with our first 2 picks.
Completely agree

Impressive marking for a mid.

Thats the first time I have had a look at Erasmus as a mid cause he did not play in a few games. Looks very good. Not sure how quick is but he looks very solid in other areas and can play forward.

Can sort see what some of the hype has been around.

Funny how his highlights package only come out in the last 24 hours and they appear to be drip feeding these releases on the players

I've heard Mitch Knevitt is on our radar . Same source that gave me flossy and hammer .

‘Prototype’ midfielder Mitch Knevitt claims Geelong Falcons best-and-fairest
He has a big body, can play inside and outside and is a threat up forward. Geelong Falcons best-and-fairest Mitch Knevitt is a serious player and he was just crowned the best of the best for the NAB League club.

DOB: 08/01/2003 Height/Weight: 193cm/81kg Position: Inside Midfielder/Forward
2021 Averages: NAB League (9 games)
24.3 disposals | 4.7 marks | 4.3 tackles | 3.6 inside 50s | 0.6 goals (5 total)

This is way off. There's no way Callaghan drops to 7 imo. If GWS doesn't take him, Gold Coast will. And Hobbs and Ward both being available at our pick is very very unlikely. Its far more likely that neither will be there.

Its the early selections of Gibcus and Andrews that make this possible and there has been plenty of smoke around GWS and GC selecting these kids. Would be a dream for us if this happens.

He does look a class above the others in the highlights package...not troubled at all...wonder how he'd go with a step up in classier competition...

Gosh i like Johnson from WA he looks to be a gun in the making with a good frame on him to grow into a strong man. Sinn is another than is a greyhound out of the back half and links up very well. Would not be unhappy with these at 7 & 15.

Adelaide would still take Callaghan over Rachelle though, surely? Which leaves the Hawks to take one of Ward/Hobbs. The other could possibly get through to us, but I think Freo would at least consider them at 8 (along with Rachelle and Amiss).

Sounds like the sort of player you could turn into a key position. 194cm in some write up's, that is Nic Riewoldt height. His strength is his marking! I know it is fashionable to have the King Bros height in a key forward, but Nic and Jack and Carey and Brown and all the great mobile forwards are around that height. Dangerous 3rd tall at worst. Pick 15?

Agree has the height to play key position, one of the taller mids out there. For pick 15 though, id rather go either Sonsie, Goater, Rooyen or Butler

I just want Andrews to be selected before our 1st selection and we dont trade up anymore and keep 5 picks

Johnson would be fine with pick #9 if Ward & Callaghan are no longer available
Hoping for Rachele , Goater , Van Rooyen , Sonsie to be available at #17
Butler , Taylor , Brown , Knevitt , Long , Bazzo , Wilmot with later picks

Or you go a good mid first and a mid/perhaps keyish forward as a second. We are so short on for forwards, one or two injuries and we have none.
At some stage you have to draft for what you need. We have 5 pics that should net us some top end talent. Of course if the recruiters don't really rate him, and the mock draft 'expert' has it all wrong that is different. But if he is quality and won't slip to our next pic, you might have to go early. Hopefully the recruiters have a few talls in their pool of 5 picks.

Agree on Andrew going before our pick, that feels vital to the likes of Ward/Hobbs/Gibcus/Erasmus getting through to us, but also, I don’t want Andrew haha, so hope he’s not there to tempt us at our pick

This is my understanding too. Which makes no sense when we have Norfs 2nd which is better than our 3rd and 4th combined lol

Found this interesting when searching for the AFL rules, it sounds a good idea to solve the issue.

Future pick swaps - a simple idea
renderTimingPixel.png

Currently you need to end up with either F1 or ALL of F2, F3 & F4.
This is to save clubs from themselves which is possibly another topic.
Anyway I feel the current rules are more restrictive than necessary.
What I would suggest is a simple points weighting to allow flexibility without too much complexity....
F1 = 6 points; F2 = 3 points; F3 = 2 points; F4 = 1 point
Rule = you must maintain a minimum of 6 points.
So you can get to 6 points via any combination such as 2x F2, 3x F3, (2x F3 + 2x F4)..etc.

Where is this rule stated? The only rules that I can find related to future trading is that a club must use at least 2 first round selections in any 4 year period. A club must use either a first or second round selection in each given year.

Plus you're forgetting we've traded in a F2 from the Kangas.
Finding AFL rules is not easy. This is all I have been able to find.

If we got Ward and Hobbs that would be perfect. Helps out future team rebuild and allows us to have some depth next year that can push RCD and Dow for selection. Hopefully replace Aarts, Pickett

How come there isn’t as much hype for Sonsie now? All year was spoken of as a top 5 fancy and hasn’t done anything that has put anyone off from what I can gather. Had 20+ disposals, 2 goals and layed some big tackles in his VFL game for Box Hill. Said to be the most dual sided kick in the draft pool. Would be an absolute steal at our 15 pick

15,27,28 for saints pick 9 ?

7,9,26 ?

Keep in mind i'm going of that ESPN post and we land Ward and Hobbs
Don't saints have NGA players to match? not entirely sure where they land but they could make second round picks pretty useless for the saints unless they are short on points.

We give up Pick 15 (17), 26 and future second for pick 9 (11)?
Having picks 9 and 11 would a great result

Depends who we get at our first. Can’t see us getting 2 guys sub 6ft. Otherwise I agree.

Read comparison to Jason Akermanis
As you say best dual sided player in the draft
