I feel the hatred for Ken is a level above what we had for guys like Brett Burton

I am a bit mixed on this reaction. I'd be upset if it was my son so I kind of get it.

Having said that Rozee is earning hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in a professional league and with that comes expectations. Also had they won he would of been up the front lapping up the applause and attention more than anyone.

Yes you can. A ridiculously easy fixture leading to a ladder position elevated far above the actual ability of the most overrated list in the AFL. = being found out.

It was the dead end sitting there patiently waiting for the oncoming bus of unwarranted arrogance and brimming with actual shitness.

Yeah… I love the heading of that Cooney article because it just rubs more salt into their wounds but it isnt actually correct.

They didnt choke at all.. they were again shown up for the utter shit they are.. their list is massively overrated by themselves, their supporters and many in the media.

Its been happening for 3 to 4 years now.. port getting granted soft draws and the media fapping over them because they beat up on the lower teams.. whilst ignoring their very consistant failures against the better teams.

They get beaten by a top 4 side.. the media goes quiet on them.. the next week they beat up on a bottom 8 side and the media go into a froth over how great they are.. rinse/repeat, rinse/repeat..

The crows nearly beat them a few weeks ago.. kept them to one goal in the entire first half.. and probably wouldve won if we had Tex that night.. massive alarm bells shouldve been ringing from that point. But they probably brushed it off as the old “anyone can win a showdown no matter where the teams are positioned on the ladder at the time” theory..

They have some aging players that are on the edge of a cliff that hold them together and a few half decent youngsters that can only play well when the older stalwards are controlling the game.. as soon as the older gen start failing the younger guys struggle.. and the entire team cannot handle any sustained pressure.

On top of all of this… their coach is a complete joke.

They wont win a premiership anytime soon and not with their current list. And they, like us, need some classy mids.. Boak and Wines are great but they too are workhorses Much like Laird and Keays. They arent bonts, olivers, martin or petracca types. You dont win prelims and granny’s without these types of mids. Gray is.. but gray is cooked and can barely play out a full game these days and thus is pretty much restricted to being a small forward. Hasnt got the stamina to be a mid anymore.

This is great, nothing will change.

Sounds like they will lose a couple of assistants? Wouldn't be surprised if they go low cost or internal promotions, they've been drinking their own bathwater so much that the best candidate is surely the one already there.

A bit like their head of high performance appointment search just happening to land on the guy that was already there.

Sort of feels like us 5 years ago.

Difference is we eventually saw the light and could afford the hit that comes with basically starting again.

Behind the scenes they'd actually love where they are at, sure they'll fall from top 4 to being a just make the 8 and anything can happen side, they'll get their 60,000 3 game members and be very satisfied.

They'll go into next season as the premiership favourites, at least here in SA and the media will hype them up as usual (they've got deals with Crocmedia and Fiveaa)

Nearly 15 million in debt? They can't afford to be a bottom 4 or even 8 team for any period of time.

Who would you have on though?

They've blooded Bicks and even he's not hugely popular. Sports day tried Cooney but he was unpopular.
A lot of ex footballers tend to be pretty bland and uninspiring.
They got Tugwell trying to put together a career, Leith Forrest never seems to be trusted with a regular gig in Sport unless it's anchoring.

That's just it, it's hard to say because no one else gets much of a crack.
I like Kym Dillon but he's on SEN now obviously.
Tom Rehn gets a spot in the offseason and I like him, but he's probably too unobtrusive to last long.
God help me if Flipper gets another offseason gig. He is attrocious. Wildy is similar too.

I'd listen to Tredders and Bicks but theyre probably both too straight edged.

Dillon and either of those two would work I reckon.

But alas, everyone will say they're no good either

They just extended his contract before the season started - got another 2 years left to run, I think.

From what I understand, due to the COVID financial assistance, the AFL has some kind of additional oversight of the finances of clubs who received that assistance (including Port). So I don't think they can pay Ken out without getting the OK from the AFL, and I can't see the AFL giving their approval for that to sack a coach who just finished 2nd and made a prelim, no matter how badly they got pantsed in said prelim.

I think Ken is safe for at least one more year.

The AFL won't be approving $300k to $400k (could be more) expense to sack a coach who just lost a Prelim.

The AFL didn't even them allow them to properly go to the market to get their new CEO. Just promoted the guy in the office next to KT.

With $12m in debt they are probably the club in the worst financial position in the AFL apart from GC.
