FAQs & Resources Thread

It has an index at the top with threadmarks so it's easy to find what you're looking for – or easier than scrolling through 250 pages of AFL Rules, Regulations and CBA pdfs anyway.

These sorts of questions are all answered along with a bunch of other resources made by posters from across BigFooty (feel free to add to it!):

Who'd want the likes of Kelly, Toby and Whitfield locked into their club long term.
We also secured the hot young talent too.
You seem like a pretty bitter guy.
They're hard to win, we didn't get one.
We have a great list, with a good age spread and with every excuse in the world we're in the finals having another crack it this year.

Good luck with longterm deal, got to pay them.....you are paying of course.

You have a great list, sure, a great list is uselss when the window isn't openeing anytime soon.

You missed your window in the 2016 - 2019, that's it. I'm afraid to tell you that your next window would be a while away.

If port hadn't won in 2004, they would not be contending for a long time as history has shown.

Being in the window is having a great list.
Geelong, Sydney and WCE have been in the window for 15 years.
We've bought in more top picks than any other side over the last 3 years and are continuing to rejuvenate the list that is already contending.
We're in the finals and could even fluke it this year.

Chairman Zia - you're trolling now, time to leave gracefully (well, somewhat) while you can.

Basically, you're talking out of your arse. You have no claim on knowing what will happen in the future, but the facts are: Norf just claimed the wooden spoon, whereas GWS was in a GF 2 years ago & is in the 8 this year, and has a stack of talent (Kelly, Greene, Whitfield, Taylor, Cumming, Idun, Hopper) that your lot covet. We all know whose shoes most AFL fans would rather be in.

I’m not that sure I’d be that chippy if I was a North Melbourne supporter, you’re just about to win the spoon and are a long way off the pace.

Im not sure which other teams would swap lists with us.

We are very likely to make finals and secure Pick 2 this year, we have all our key A graders secured long term and have more depth than just about any other team in the comp.

We also aren’t about to be relocated to Tasmania. Maybe focus on your own back yard son.

yeah, errr we won most of our grand final and not lose close to 100, actually richmond let go off the accelerator, otherwise it would have been 130 point.

I think mugging someone off with a "son" call is underrated as an insult.

With you guys having a plethora of inside midfielders, plus Hopper still to pay, what do you reckon it would take to get XOH down to the Tigers? I think he's an inside bull that is being played out of position due to Green, Hopper and Taranto playing inside along with Kelly and Coniglio. Not sure how he fits into the playing structure or the pay structure but is he gettable? He is exactly what the Tigers need and at the right age.

He was gettable last year and couldn’t get a game. This year he is playing regular footy and it’s actually his outside game we like about him

Of course if you offer him money he might go but he is playing regular footy and we love him

He was one of my faves from his draft year; reckoned he had in him exactly what he's shown us this year. We do want he, Ash & Bruhn doing what they've been doing recently - busting out of the middle with speed!

Id reckon he'd be hard to get now, but everyone has a price.
If you offered him enough cash once off contract, he might go. The enough cash these days would probably require you to pay him a decent amount, otherwise I reckon he just stays.

Fair enough. Thought he may be a possibility of being squeezed out with your stars being resigned recently.

the cap is going to go up 500k next year supposedly(read it somewhere).

was that pre-covid or post?

with no crowds and hubbing in hotels, the money is rapidly disappearing from the game. I would think the cap will stay the same or even reduce slightly in the face of changing circumstances.

I agree mate, read it recently. Trying to find where I did.

I still think we would have planned a lot of $ to have at least 1 and probably 2 of those departed Williams/Corr/Jezza on the books, and we would have presumed Caldwell stayed too, so I reckon even with Kelly remaining and Hopper presumably getting a $ bump, that we can retain everyone with a small $ boost. Presuming that XOH is happy enough with the contract put in front of him and the environment in the club.
