FAQs & Resources Thread

It has an index at the top with threadmarks so it's easy to find what you're looking for – or easier than scrolling through 250 pages of AFL Rules, Regulations and CBA pdfs anyway.

These sorts of questions are all answered along with a bunch of other resources made by posters from across BigFooty (feel free to add to it!):

Wingard could free up Toby to play patches in the midfield which gives us a speed/burst dynamic that we're currently missing in there. Don't think we'd see him there as a full time mid but maybe as a 65% forward/35% mid would be great to see. Would need other guys be ok with taking smaller midfield roles but if everyone is willing to buy in it would give us a really flexible mid with plenty of guys running through there.

Honestly I think Wingard will set you back.

You need someone young and vibrant and energetic who kicks goals. Better off trying to draft a player. Even Rachelle in this years draft.

Cody Weightman would be nice but not Wingard who lacks the edge these days

Toby would cop most of the attention though, leaving wingard to receive far less attention than he’s probably ever got.

There are definitely reasons that Wingard would improve the GWS team as a whole, and the forward line specifically (which is an area that does need work, or just Jesse Hogan becoming fit and playing most games).

However, I still believe that there are negatives and certainly risks to bringing him in. But the biggest issue of all, he doesn't seem to want to come to GWS.

I understand teams can ask - look at Bobby, it would appear that Essendon has turned his head when a few weeks ago he was perfectly happy. But if we get a 'no', then it's time to move on. I'm also quite fine with keeping Bobby and the club working to support he and his family once baby comes even more than I'm sure we already do. If we do let him go, we need to get something that is fair to the club, and can help offset his loss.

I know there are differing thoughts regarding Josh Rachelle, but he's one who might be a strong replacement (and he does have Toby as a role model) if we can get to a good position in the draft.

On talent but not on need.
if you keep pick 2 and land both I’d say that’s a pretty unreal off season. They are both improving your list and would make you an even more serious contender for a flag in 22
my issue would be salary cap, we'd be looking to increase all of Green, Ash, Bruhn and other shortly, we will need the funds to do that. Having Lobb and Wingard theyd be wanting good coin and may add short term, but cost us long term.

Ankle surgery for Weightman, out for 3 months but we have seen the issues we have had with Cogs after his recovery

Taranto is gonna be a huge one too.
We are a club that is all about retention.

That said.. winning helps with retention.
Hawks trade would have to include salary which would increase how good the pick is.

Can't imagine they would look at bringing in Wingard and Lobb without leaving themselves enough cap space to re-sign the key guys out of contract next year.

Just because Wingard becomes available does not mean he is the guy for GWS or another club unless he can play the role they want

We’ve all read your pie in the sky (borderline psychotic) opinions on what we need. Not sure why a Tigers supporter spends so much time worrying about our list.

Especially with fanciful rubbish you’ve posted in the past.

But if we won a premiership off of the back of it ….. who cares?

With Wingard looking looking very unlikely at this point think I'm happy just to carry over the cap space that we've free'd up this year and carry it into next year with Finlayson and Bobby on the way out and leave Lobb at Freo don't think he fills any holes for us.
yep seems Lobb want more coin, in that case no thanks. Will take our picks to the draft and back in what we have, which is still great.

So, according to this SEN report, Lobb isn't prepared to take that much of a pay cut to come back to GWS. It seems to be another Colin Young shonk - dangle a story that's not the whole truth to both sides. More years at not much less $. Time to put that potential trade to bed. Let's just take our picks to the draft.

New twist emerges in Rory Lobb trade scenario (sen.com.au)

Rory Lobb has still hasn’t requested a trade away from Fremantle despite negotiations already taking place on a deal to send him back to GWS, according to SEN Chief Sports Reporter Sam Edmund. The 28-year-old remains contracted to the Dockers until 2023, with the Giants recently made aware of Lobb’s interest to a move back to the club where he spent five seasons between 2014 and 2018.

Edmund reports that despite the talk around Lobb’s possible move to GWS, he still hasn’t handed in a formal trade request, largely due to the terms of the Giants offer. “The Giants would be willing to offer a future second-round pick to make (the deal) happen,” he said on AFL Trade Radio’s Trade Afternoons.

“For all the negotiations that are taking place, Rory Lobb hasn’t actually requested a trade from Fremantle. It’s a bit strange, he hasn’t requested a trade because the deal from GWS isn’t to his liking. We know he’s prepared to play for less, he and his management are aware of the situation. GWS has a four-year offer there, the terms aren’t the issue. It’s the money that’s the issue. How much less is he prepared to play for? Maybe not as less as we’re led to believe.”

Geez the more that comes out about the Hill desk the smellier it seems .... was already offered 4 years by essrnflogs before he told the club
So, in contract, offered 4 years by Bombers, waits until the trade period's almost over to squeeze us, puts out a BS ''compassionate reasons'' excuse to squeeze us even more. But worth **** all according to Bombers' fans!

Dodo can shove that where the sun don't shine.
