OK, but that wasn't your point.

Hey, when all else fails let's have another crack at the club!

Well it certainly isn't the supporters who are to blame for poor performance.

The club needs to take responsibility.

From the moment we made Cripps and Doc dual captains we were doomed.
Totally symbolic of our inability to make a decision. Cripps was clearly the best candidate. Murphy should have been made to step aside the year before. Murphy should be sanctioned for his comments regarding team selection that are all over the media. The club hasn't drawn a decent line in the sand for as long as I can remember.
From the top down we appear gutless. We crumble under pressure on every level.

Name one decision made by the club that we, as supporters, have been able to stand behind with pride. Non-committal right down to rubbish injury reports. 1-2 weeks is a catch cry that shouldn't exist.

I'm done.

What are you mods even protecting? This club has no substance.

I can't defend us in public any more so I'm done supporting us.

Done.

I'm not reaching to find anything wrong with the club...

In this instance, I beg to differ. You've insinuated the club doesn't do psychological testing on prospective recruits.

I'm all for defending the club, but not from Facts...

The point I pulled you up on is not a fact. It is your opinion. And it's fine to hold that opinion but let's call it what it is and what it is only.

If you took your blue coloured glasses on you'd see we have drafted and traded for players that are mentally fragile and don't know how to fu@#ing win........

Has nothing to do with my supposed 'blue coloured glasses'. You wouldn't have the faintest idea of the mental state of any of the playing group. Why pretend otherwise?

I think a lot of our off field work with charities and causes is to be commended and something to be proud of.
I love that we stood up for Plowman even though we probably knew it wasn't going to end the way we wanted.

Slim pickings though. I don't disagree with you.

What are you mods even protecting?

Not sure what being a mod has to do with the discussion.

I thought * meant either. I usually can't be bothered typing Scum or Filth. Yes, our first pick we traded away for a mediocre halfback flanker, but we've had this talk on another thread already. We were interested in Poulter, apparently, but our mediocre trade targets left us bereft of a pick in the top thirty. We could have even drafted Poulter and another player had we traded that initial first-round pick down. How could the club have thought that all we needed to put us in finals or even premiership contention was an OK at best HBF? We have our priorities wrong and think we can build a premiership-worthy list in piecemeal fashion.

I remember hearing the name pop up but that doesn’t mean we would have picked him, had we kept our picks, we don’t know where he was on the list, maybe the talk was for one of the later picks.

What are you mods even protecting? This club has no substance. Bunch of soft liberals that have no concept of how to roll our sleeves up and do a decent day's work.

You make some good points, it just outlines how much the players run the club.

We felt obliged to pick Docherty considering everything he had been through, we felt we needed to make Cripps captain as we were probably scared he'd go home to WA at one point. Instead of breaking one of their hearts we made a warm fuzzy decision that would please all parties.

Murphy challenges selection in public with no repercussion, the players wanted Teague and got him, they revolted against Bolts, it would be a long list if I could think of all these little things.

We tried the hard-ass approach with Mick, we tried the PE-teacher approach with Bolts, we tried the laid-back nature with Teague.

Something is just rotten in our culture and I would love to know what it is - from the outside it appears the squad is tight, they like their coach, they're happy playing for a big Victorian team.

Would love to be a fly on the wall in there atm. Something is very off.

So you think that Dow, LOB, Samo, Setters and Kennedy are all pea hearted and mentally weak?.

Not what I said.

And it's much more difficult to 'work harder' if there is no one giving clear instructions into what to do. That falls back on coaching, and therefore leads to poor development.

This, I agree with.

Although, isn't it also incumbent on the individual to improve themselves? Like Cripps getting a running coach over a summer break a few years ago.

We currently have close to 15% of our salary cap tied up in 3 half back flanker, yet nobody in the box, nor on the field saw fit to give a 12 game, lifetime midfielder a chop out on one of the best small forwards in the comp.

Yep, and in a few weeks’ time people will start saying ‘Stocker’s been given his chance, wasn’t up to it. Another recruiting failure.’

Then he’ll get traded, become a very good player and people will say ‘ he never tried when at carlton’

Here is something that has probably been pointed out already, in the last 3 National Drafts we have recruited 9 players only 4 of them have played senior footy, 1 out of the last 5 (Sam Philip 2 games) The 2017 Draft we got Dow, LOB, TDK and Schumacher, one of them has been delisted two of the other three will be lucky to be playing AFL in 2022.
Apart from Walsh our recruiting has been deplorable recently either that or our development is not up to speed (clearly)
I really hope Brodie Kemp makes it I really do.
Dow and LOB picks really hurt. Some really gun players taken after those picks.

It’s always fun to bag out Levi when the team looses... the bloke is a vital part of the squad. There is a roll in a team called a ruck man, a good one is pretty damaging (see Carlton v west coast last Sunday, some might have caught the game) The ere is a subset of the ruck man called the backup ruck. Every team needs someone to chop out the no. 1 Ruck. Levi competes ok in the ruck and adds contested marking skills and a down the line target. Not glamorous but Required, just like a back pocket stopper. (Which we have been missing the last couple of weeks)

Levi has been playing hurt this year. Not playing great but most people don’t play great when hurt. He was brought back in to play in defense in the absence of plowman. Bad coaching, I would swing Sosos back to play the third tall spot. I would have also swung sosos back this week after Harry went down and put Jones forward to bring the ball to ground.

swing a few changes for Christ sake

How many changes at season's end will be too many..

Definitely gone - Murphy, Levi, Betts, Kennedy
Likely Gone - SPS, LOB, OMc, Ramsey
Maybe Gone - Newnes, Honey,
Please don't go - Cripps, McKay
Honey? Did you proofread that, IAAM?

Love Levi . Between the arcs he’s a good down the line and good kick . Recuperate and rest him for mine. Important still and in probably his final year . Ruck chop out also.

Serious question - do we make our version of the Treloar deal this off-season with Zac Williams, and pay someone to take on what is clearly now the worst contract in the league?

Or do we wait a year or two first? I guess this season's retention of Cripps/McKay probably isn't dependent on money as much as our on field trash fire. And the other likely walk outs probably mean we both need every seasoned player we can, and and better afford him for a year or two as we once again rebuild around 11x new 18 year olds. But even then- $4m more to come over 5 years... if we can't trust him in the back pocket to actually defend someone at 26 (and have to throw a 20 year old converted midfielder to the wolves on Liam Ryan instead), the sooner we get off that hot mess the better.

And yes, it'll be bitterly embarrassing for the club. That doesn't mean it isn't right to give up one of our 6 first rounders this off season to get rid of him

Of course we don't. Has had a pretty ordinary start, but he'll come good.

And he's not even on the worst contract at Carlton, let alone across the competition.

Who is on the worst contract at Carlton ?

Question is who do we back in / keep and who do we let go ...

In my opinion ...

Gone - Murphy, Betts, Newnes, Gibbons
Shaky - Kennedy, Newman, McDonald, Levi
Trade - Dow, SPS

What were people saying about Darcy Parish 2 years ago?

Not really comparable, posters on here critical of Parish, had two sets of their Blue tinted glasses on, quality player, who was versatile to do an apprenticeship in various positions, something I hope is similar to what will happen with Stocker.

Parish 2 seasons ago averaged over 20 possessions and 4 tackles a game, no idea how people who watch football could be critical of him.
