Sums it up perfectly.

I'm of the opinion with this season totally done, we need to play youth. Not only to see what they can bring, but also to make these kids feel like we reward our good players.

Teague clearly is feeling the pressure and going back to what he thinks can get him a few wins rather than building a strong team for not only the future but now.

LOB and SPS need to be played on ball and on the wings. Both very nice kicks and if they weren't feeling like their next kick is their last, we might see these 2 progress.

Selections this week show me we aren't concerned about the future which I find disgusting with the current position we find ourselves in. Is anyone going to remember round 15 against the crows if we just get over the line against the crows with the line up we have in? I'd be rewarding players like Honey and giving him a good run in the 1sts until the end of the season.

couldn’t agree more, I was really critical of Williams, Fog and Martin holding their spots and then I saw Newnes, it’s disappointing.

I can see us winning this game, but as you and many commentators have pointed out, we are an old side and playing the players we are might get us a few wins, but it’s papering over the cracks and will bite us down the track.

There's a lot of interest in Cerra and he could be a great pick up but he's still developing and I think we need players who will add leadership and know how to win. Here are the players I think we should go after and why.

Talia- FA, lockdown defender (Freeing up Weitering to play he's more natural game) and adds leadership.

Wallis- FA, proven Forward/ inside mid and add a bit of hardness and leadership

Mathieson- FA, (I know he's a dickhead but we are too nice as a team) add a bit of grunt and hardness.

Riccardi- trade, I think we need another tall forward. I'll like to see how McGovern goes as a defender as he hasn't worked as a forward. Charlie if he returns to the same form before his injuries, would be dangerous as a 3rd tall that can push up the ground.

Adams- if we are going to go after a contracted midfielder, I would go after Adams over Mitchell as Adams is more damaging player. Plus there i talk the pies salary cap is tight again.

I really like these, except Adams, as he’s unrealistic, long term contract and future captain.

Talia is old, but would be good for depth and could be tempted to transition to coaching afterwards.

I’m a big fan of Riccardi.

Forget Gov, get rid of him, offer to pay part of his contract and see if we can get a 3rd or 4th round pick.

Wallis would be solid and actually has shown he can play the forward role better than anyone we currently have.

go after Lipinski too

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I see Cerra's ceiling as a solid B+ player.
l believe Cerra is going to be a consistent performer for any team, at Carlton he would be outstanding acquisition as we lack quality ball users.
Anyone that gets the ball 24-30 times a game and uses it well is invaluable, personally think he will go another Melb club unfortunately.

Some of those would be good additions. I just wonder if it might be sensible to go to the draft this year and bank some money for trade time next year?

I think we have some kids on our list that could surprise if given the opportunity to get a fair run at it.

I expect Honey, SPS (if he stays), Kemp, Carroll and Ramsay to be in the 1sts next year (if given the opportunity). Adding a top 5 pick along with 2 or 3 picks in the top 40 would be sensible after spending big the last 2 years on recruits.

I haven't lost hope in LOB and Dow (although I expect him to ask to be traded to the tigers).

If we get in some good kids this year and a few of our younger crew improve, I just feel we could really set ourselves up moving forward

Id like to hit the draft too, players like Wallis and Talia would both be free, so they wouldn’t stop that and I don’t think Riccardi would cost a lot. I think we will need to make some senior additions with Betts, Murphy and maybe Cas departing.

Theres many options - I’ll miss a few.

Mitch Wallis would be a very solid mid fwd option.
Matt Crouch would provide that accumulator in the middle.
Adam Cerra just makes sense. Young mid. Have to keep investing in these types.
Josh Kelly is silk, it’s just the $$$ and his wanton to come here.
Sam Weideman can play fwd or back. Good size and smart footballer.
Jack Billing’s can get it and put scoreboard pressure on. No 3 pick for a reason.
Dylan Stephens was a ball magnet, we should enquire before he gets a chance to force his way into the SYD team.

We need a shut down small defender,we have been crying out for one for eon's.

We should have a look at Colman Jones, Cerra and Clarke all young talented and would not cost the farm.
I’d be happy to trade Dow to tigers for CJ , SPS or Fisher & 2022 1st rounder for Cerra, our 3rd rounder for Clarke of the Cats.
We desperately need a hound Tall defender and Ruckman too.

Dow wouldn't get us Coleman Jones. And SPS is much better than a token add on. He just needs to play midfield full time.

I just don't think we need to bring in big name players or b graders on big money this off season.

I think we were all very happy with the direction our club was going and the talent we had on the list 2 years ago. We need to fix the problem and entrust what we saw with our kids moving forward.

Names like Cerra on approx $750k a year won't fix the problem

Clarke is still contracted so no reason for them to give him up for a third. I like CCJ but i do worry about a forward line of Harry and him. Very one dimensional and CJ looks painfully slow at times.

I wouldn’t be against us checking what the go with Dunkley is too. Still contracted so obviously no point going too hard but who knows where it’s all at with those two parties.

I'm not sure about that... perception is one thing and reality is another. I think everyone was ecstatic, and rightly so, with the first year of our rebuild but the fact that a good deal of our future hopes hinges on that one draft year should tell us something. Subsequently, we thought that we had the core of a good side and that we were impervious to any future list management errors of any great consequence, at least for the time being. Having said that, I'm not interested in any more 'two for...' or 'three for...' type trades. The money those players would be demanding is consequential rather than the problem itself.

SPS has to prove his intensity and attitude, to get a game in team placed amongst bottom 5? and 1st rounder is next years draft.
Cerra is a good quality young midfielder, with upside not an intermittent, sporadic type that can be brilliant , flashing in and out of games.

It is stunning how poorly people rate SPS.

Outstanding talent with some kinks to work out

If we change coaches the new coach should get SPS focussed...there is a footballer inside SPS. He needs a year mid fwd to realise the potential
