what about hoops at full pace, wrong footed landing it like a butterfly in fev's hands across 50 metres? fev said he loved it best when it was delivered by 33 - very nearly crashed the car listening to the adelaide goal in 2004.........
I can't believe we never won a flag let alone barely played finals with that team. loaded with talent, but didn't achieve much.

One big weakness of our team that really annoys me is we seem to have a lot of forwards who can't kick goals...

You could probably have stopped there and still been just as accurate without adding about our forwards kicking them from 50m.

Our goal-kicking is honestly atrocious, we just seem to miss easy shots as a habit and not many look confident when lining up. If we don't improve on it, it will continue to cost us games.

Have a close look at the not really shepherd by Stevens for, I think, Scotland. Compare that effort to Stockers'.

I remember going to one of those kids clinics the club puts on with the players back in around 2007 with my 3 kids. Freezing cold mid-winter morning on the oval outside Princes Park and Fev was doing sprints off to the side as he was coming back from a hammie I think so not involved in the clinic.

He came off the oval and was swarmed for autographs, like 10 people deep. I kept looking back at him throughout the whole clinic and he stayed the whole time, signing autographs. Must’ve been there for well over 2 hours in the freezing cold.

Like a mate of mine used to say, he was a d***head, but he was our d***head.
And as per your example, always did the right thing by the kids.

OMac is a NO BRAINER. Comes cheap and can play multiple roles...and is probably unfairly stigmatised. Rapt!!
Oscar is a versatile tall we desperately need ,great he gets another opportunity ,hopefully in 2022 he can stay on the park and contribute for a few games, at least.

Hopefully one of our new coaches has some skill in teaching them.

bit cruel using fev as a comparison - I still get the gasps watching the accuracy of his long shots for goal - no better example than this happy little game - watch this and don't get goosebumps..........

also at 1.04 the single worst example of the newly introduced hands in the back rule I ever saw........

When Fev was on he was unstoppable

Wish he had a Hoops and Scotland right now

Do we need to make one more delisting from the Senior list? Is the minimum 3 draft pick rule still in place?

Murphy, Casboult, Gibbons, Ramsay, Petrevski-Seton gone from the Senior List and Betts was on the Rookie List this year I believe.
Cerra, Hewett and Young take 3 spots.

Depends on how you structure the list, but yes

We could shift another to the rookie list, take 2 at the draft, then elevate Kennedy

We went with 36 senior and 6 rookies this year, a lot will depend on what split we do and how we choose to keep Omac, Mirkov and Boyd. Owies' time as a Cat B rookie might be up too. It's just too hard to be able to tell now with our long term injuries and contracts with mid season and supp list players how we'll structure the squad.

4yrs now allowed for Cat B’s, so Owies can continue outside the main lists for 2022.

Interesting.
Our listing on this board has Newnes as out of contract so maybe they want to shuffle him to rookie list. Otherwise he would have been announced delisted with Gibbons and Ramsay.

EDIT - Newnes possibly reached a trigger for another year? Ok well I am not sure what the plan is.

I would shift Marhbank or Cuners to the injury list, could be a couple of others that could be considered for a similar move

Doc too possibly.

Will be interesting to see what we do with the LTI list - can't afford to go into next season with 3 players already confirmed as missing a fair chunk.

Might be ready to ramp up training at that point, but doubt we see either till mid season

Doubt we will ever see Glassbank again tbh ....into his 7th year now ...

****ing gun…
Left many games from the ground in awe shaking the head with the way he tore games apart…
Tore many a side a new one, ****ing freakish all round talent once he actually finally put it all together…

Put him in the 1995 team he kicks 120 plus…

Agreed. Part of what made Fevola so special was his ability to consistently kick goals from 55m out. Stopping someone from taking marks on the 50m is very difficult compared to 40m out because there is so much more space.

If we had more players who could kick like Newman, Saad and Boyd that would make it much easier to score.

He’s hands on the lead improved significantly into his fith year onwards, become a strong one grab mark which had a massive influence on the rest of his game from memory…
Then from that everything just clicked, Dunstall like leading and the one grip hands, brilliant kick from any position or distance with a natural touch & feel for the game from anywhere with that touch of class…

Ford T has no airbags, very lucky…

Fevola’s separation on the opposition and his reading of the play was just phenomenal. Nothing more to be said about his kicking rather above elite. Sensational player and the day he took Mal amd Dustin apart in the 2nd half at the G was just special. One of my best days in the PB.

Saved his best for the pies and dons
Carved them up

Yeah it was a tough call, probably down to as much bad luck and circumstance as much anything.
It could have just as easily been Owies with the hammy, Gibbons playing and Owies goes.

Absolutely this is spot on and hopefully the big take away for everyone, both players and fans, is that the AFL provides so many examples of “sliding doors”moments:
- If Samo wasn’t out of contract this year he stays on our list instead of getting traded for peanuts as opposed to say Setters or Fisher who stay on our list pretty much based solely on the fact they are contracted for another year
- Newnes stays fit all year and hits a trigger to get another contract but Gibbons, whom is season looks well and truly on his way to another contract, gets injured and misses out
- what if a coach who wasn’t coaching for his job at the seasons end picks Ramsay instead of Newnes (who in turn doesn’t hit his new contract trigger) in the last couple games and shows he’s worth another contract?

As much as this sounds brutal I do hope the players who are close with the likes of Samo, Gibbons and Ramsay take heed that the opportunity they have been given to play professional football can be taken away in the blink of an eye, sometimes through very little fault of their own, and they simply must leave no stone unturned to make sure they don’t end up on the scrap heap.
