NFL 2021 - NFL Pre-Season Discussion

Of course it's about money, but moreso about job security , the Packers drafted Love , Rodgers put up an MVP season and they want him to hit the cliff and replace him.

Any QB would be pissed in the same circumstances coming off an MVP season, name another time a QB coming off an MVP year had his team refuse to extend him while the MVP is still keen to play for multiple seasons.

Dont blame Rodgers in the slightest. He's a bit of a sour puss but he's entitled to be on this occasion.

Players dont normally win mvp at 38. Exceptional circumstance where the packers probably want to move forward with a rookie qb on rookie contract so they can spend tons of money across more positions, their qb is nearing his shelf life, but hes still playing at a high level, however hes a sour puss, meanwhile its tempting to get multiple picks and star players in a trade for someone nearing their shelf life.

What's so bizarre about it is we don't even know how Love looks on a NFL field.

Just trade him now while his value is high if you're committed to Love, can't have a foot in both camps in these circumstances

We dont know what Love looks like, the FO and coaches would tho. Just like when no one knew what Rodgers looked like behind Favre until the FO and CS knew he was ready and hence the push Favre out. Same perhaps, they know hes ready, still have 4 yrs on rookie contract, so push Rodgers out and get picks galore in the process.

Perhaps the FO are playing passive aggressive back at Rodgers forcing him to feel like wanting out.

Very similar to when Brady went to Kraft to get BB to trade Garoppolo. Except Jimmy had passed the eye test on a NFL field at that pont while Love hasn't.

Packers probably want to see Love in a preseason game at least before they decide what to do.

Game pressure against a real opposition is a lot different to wearing a red vest playing against your own defense at practice.

I can be sure if a woman is good in bed just by looking at her, dont need to see her in bed first. I am almost sire it is the sane for NFL coaches assessing QBs.

Reports were he was struggling big time early but had progressed some towards the end of season.

Far from any Mahomes style hype coming out of the team.

Hes probably not %100 ready, could be say %80 ready like Herbert or Burrow ended up being (they didnt give them everything in year one). Think its more the realization all of Rodgers 16 yrs they only got 1 SB, they expect more, total team effort holding them back, not QB play, if they had more money they could address all the areas, could reconfigure offense to something more Baltimore-KC-ish, which more trams are embracing (Niners Lance), and most poignantly that theres a window with QB on rookie contract that you can win a SB in, and then it gets nigh improbable to win another once that QB demands 20m+ per year, losing top shelf players across the roster due to cap squeeze. Partly also Bradys fault because hes a unicorn, for all history most elite qbs won 1-2 max, and judged elite on that....but now due to Brady, unreasonable wishes or judgments that they should be winning more than 1 SB or else theyre a drain.

Can packers even afford to trade Rodgers this seasaon his cap hit according to spotac is like 38 mil. Then throw in cap hit for 2022 and 2023 last years of his contact be stupid to eat that cap even with getting oodles of draft picks.

Probably why Rodgers is angry, them restructuring contract to make it affordable to trade him?

The being upset about Jordan Love being drafted is Rodgers being a hypocrite. Bet he wasn't upset when he was drafted to replace Brett Favre.

After June 2 I think it becomes more feasible

Which teams will be willing to offer enough to make it worth while now after the draft. Alot of teams filled QB position in the draft. Plus can't imagine the Packers would want to trade him to another NFC team.

Raiders , Denver, Miami come to mind but can they offer enough to get Rodgers and still have there team be competitive. Can't imagine Rodgers not sooking if his team struggles to make or miss the playoffs.

They can split his salary across 2 years so the cap hit becomes less obscene (20m & 17m). So it could be done - but will it... I'm not so sure. Both parties have leverage - but no one really has the edge there.

I think the saga is more down to relationship, followed by security and then money.

They need to establish who is the alpha dog. Is it the Org or the player. Someone is going to have to fold to resolve this. Both sides have reasonable claims - but it ain't clear cut.

Surprised he didn't nominate the Steelers as a team. Maybe too much respect for Ben to say trade me there publically tho.

John Ross would probably pull a hammy but he'd perform much better than DK over 100m if he didn't.

DK looks more in the Michael Johnson mold, perfect for 200m if he trained for as it takes him a while to build up steam.
