This year is the first time in 28 years that Geelong have hosted Essendon down there.

Last year was the first for Carlton, for a similar period of time... and Carlton won!

Not from what I can remember.

1997 and 98 was under a weird finals system, but even so I'm pretty sure we've never been gifted a home final that we didn't earn

1997 against Geelong I seem to recall Geelong supporters being up in arms that it wasnt played at Kadinia Park. They finished 2nd and lost to 7th placed North Melbourne at the MCG. They thought that the next final against us should have been their home final as they finished higher. What they failed to realis is that we won and finished fourth so as Brisbane and Sydney loss and were eliminated Geelong got that second chance. But we were the higher placed winner so we got the home final.

They still got the home umpiring calls, a ball comes off Bickleys shin and it was given a goal to the Cats.

Yep. If the AFL operated like a lot of other sports leagues. However even within the framework of current AFL rules Geelong should have had home qualifying and prelim finals.

We had one taken away in 2002 because of the MCC “contract.”

Yeh that one was almost and Crows Port GF. Should have played at Footy Park but played Melbourne at the G which we won. We then had to play Collingwood at the G in the prelim. Port played Brisbane and we both loss so a Brisbane COll GF

I'd still love to know how we constantly get lumped with having to play down there while other sides continuously avoid it.

Prime example, from 2014 we've played there 5 times while Port have only played the once.

How is that even remotely fair and balanced scheduling?

First time Isaac Smith and Joe Daniher had ever played there in Round 2.

A lot would be holding the ball, a free kick you generally earn. Not be given from an opponent's mistake.

The push from Geelong supporters was for a final in Victoria - Kardinia wasn't their major issue.

15 out of our differential of 25 would be Tex's HTB he's won.
