The black and white vertical stripes are their IP in the AFL.

I don't think it's as simple as it just being a colour clash, Collingwood use the black and white stripes to market their club and it's part of their identity and it's on their emblem etc.

Eddie's point is valid is that Port just seem to keep coming back demanding for more and it's time for the AFL to put it's foot down and make a decision on it.

Collingwood have allowed Port to use it for heritage games in the past. Now that's not enough and the club is demanding to use now twice a year. I am willing to bet that once they get approval for twice a year suddenly they will then be demanding to wear it for every home game.

Eddie just wants the AFL to make a decision on it and get it over and done with rather than let Port continually try to gradually erode away at their IP

I think it's great that these two sh*t clubs bicker and fight over their pathetic jumpers.
It's grab the popcorn kind of stuff and LOL

Is he the Tony Antrobus clone? The Port commentators were fapping over him through those pre-season matches we played.
Jones is a manchild and looked fantastic in the SANFL last year. He is very attacking and often backs himself to outmark his opponent so he could be found out by experienced forwards.

in the early days whilst he cuts his teeth, but once he gets a run of games, he will imo look like he has been at AFL level for years as is his type of game

If the AFL says it's okay then I am fine with Port wearing them for their home showdown.

I don't see why our home game also has to turned into a Port Adelaide sideshow.

The fact that they're desperately wanting to wear against us in Showdowns shows their mentality with the whole thing and that this whole thing is nothing more than Port supporters trying to engage in another pointless piss fight against us.
People like Tredders have argued we should let Port wear their black and white in our home Showdown because it means more to beat them while they're wearing the Magpies guernsey, which is kind of weird thinking. So all those wins we've had in Showdowns don't mean as much because we beat them in black and teal?

Do we get bonus points for beating them in that guernsey? No. So, yeh I don't care. It means exactly the same as any other game, including beating Gold Coast or Fremantle.

It is the same thinking that they see it as a grand final, we see it as just another game.

We can always thank Blighty for seeing it as it is - another game for 4 points.

It is interesting that we seem to win the important Showdowns - 2005SF, 2015 Phil Walsh game.

Didnt Blighty infamously wrote 18 on the whiteboard after our loss in Showdown 1 ??

That set the benchmark.

I think Craigy had the same philosophy too from memory.

It's also a typical example of their level of self entitlement, they expect us to allow them to use our home game as a marketing exercise to help promote/sell their jumper.

Just like how they expected teams to give up a home game to enable them to play in Darwin to promote themselves and later doing the same thing with China.

There's a clear pattern of that club constantly expecting free hits at the expense of others and giving nothing in return.

Eddie was on the money when he described the club as a taker rather than a giver.

Thought Crows fans may love this. An interview with Bones McDermott last night on C7, starting at around 29min mark, highlighting all the early years of the AFC.

Good funny interview here. Enjoy.

The "Die Victorian Scum" shirts made me laugh so hard, there is no way anything like that would be acceptable today.

Proof that you can form an argument for absolutely anything......no matter how much you’re grasping at straws or how irrelevant the argument is in the first place.

I also like the argument, "why do the Crows care so much about what guernsey we wear"

Clearly forgetting that they complained about the club wearing this and lobbied the SANFL to stop us from wearing it at a showdown.

Loved how Fitzy asked the question about which player that didn't go to Victoria would have dominated if he did, as if he knew what the answer would be.

Would love it if they had Macca on there, but it will never happen.

But its a matter of principal isnt it.. they agreed when they joined the comp that they would be identifiably different from the collingwood magpies.

they called themselves Port Power. They had a lightening bolt as a mascot.. their colours were black, white and teal.

In recent years they changed it to call themselves “port adelaide” and seem to have distanced themselves from the “power” name.. now they want to be able to wear the port adelaide magpies guernsey..

If they are granted this then what next?.. they ask to wear the magpie symbol on their guernsey for all games except the ones they dont play against Collingwood?... and then later they demand that they can wear it against Collingwood when it is ports home game and the pies have to wear something else.

sounds far fetched?.. maybe.. but this is a club and a supporter base that thinks its better then everyone else.. a club that is so entitled because it has historically always been given what it demands.

you give this club a finger and they will take a ******* arm.

If I was a Pies supporter or someone involved at The collingwood club, I’d be saying no too.

what they AFL should do is either tell port to give it up or, if they really wanted to settle it, they should put it to a vote amongst Collingwood fans and see what they feel about it.

but can you imagine if the shoe was on the other foot and this was Collingwood joining the SANFL and then later demanding to wear the traditional pies black and white guernsey!... the meltdowns and tears from the powa snowflakes would drown half the fu**in planet..
Yep. **** Port. Scum club. Insidious underhanded dealings always, like the CCP. Keep creeping up on the things it desires. No wonder Koch gets a hard on any time China’s mentioned. Same MO.
