Sick to death of hearing that limp dick tredders on the news every night whinging about it not to mention his mate Jane cornes.

Pretty sure ports og jumpers were pink/magenta for 20 odd years pre prison bars so if they want to embrace tradition go down that road

I mean who gives a toss what they wear. They're (meant to be) grown men ffs
What do you expect from the "We exist to win premierships"??? They do know this is the best football competition in Australia which was created from the VFL and not the SANFL so Collingwood has all the rights over the prison bar jumper, you guys enter the competition in 1997 and that is your history.

Was Eddie saying he knew Heritage round was going to end mean he didn't sign the contract "in good faith" and so Port would have a case?
Shouldn't have Port known that also? Sure if there was some unknown deal done between Ed and the AFL to end Heritage round but if was just common knowledge around the AFL and Port were desperate to wear the jumper in 2007 so agreed to it to wear the jumper even just once then its all over.

Eddie is right in the sense that it was the Port Adelaide Power that joined the AFL and they were a brand new club with absolutely no connection to the Port Magpies. So their Heritage is in fact the first strip they wore in the AFL and not the prison bars. It's only recently that they became "one club"

Not sure it really matters, they signed an agreement relating to the prison bar jumper. And unless there is another heritage round they can't wear it.

Kane once again proved that intelligence is not really his strong suit.
.
Numbnuts couldn't even get his pea brain around the fact that the signed agreement was referring directly to heritage round (which has not been thing for over 10 years).

Then when Eddie tried to explain that Port broke that agreement anyway by selling those guernseys it completely went over Kane's head.

In the end Kane just looked like a complete moron

they are desperate.. the club is in mountains of debt.. they need to increase their supporter base.

I read an article a few years back and the gist of it was that when Adelaide joined the AFL alot of sanfl port adelaide supporters obviously became crows supporters.. a few years later when port power started it is believed a lot of these supporters migrated back to port adelaide away from the crows.. but a fair few didn't.. a fair few didn't associate the sanfl port adelaide with the AFL Port Powa.. and simply stayed on as crows supporters..

at the same time some traditional port adelaide sanfl supporters decided not to follow either of the two AFL clubs and just continue following the sanfl side only..

Port Adelaide (AFL side) has been trying to get these supporters all back ever since and they see the link to the prison bars guernsey as one way of enabling the old supporters to regain that lost connection..

thats how the story went anyway.. seems plausible.. could also be a BS excuse as to why their supporter base is less than adequate..
There’s also plenty of PM supporters that traditionally followed Carlton, Geelong and obviously Collingwood in the VFL/AFL that never jumped on the Power wagon and resent what’s happened to their SANFL team

Im calling bullshit here.

Not what you are saying but what they think, I just do not believe there is many at all Port supporters from SANFL that continue to support the Crows?

In fact I have never come across here literally a single poster that is a Port SANFL supporter and Crows supporter.

Anyone? Bueller?
Had a boss in Port Adelaide heartland who was a Magpies supporter and followed Adelaide when they came in and stuck fast

Speaking of picking a team to support one of my friends chose to support Collingwood purely because she thought that Cameron Cloke was Hot..... She did not change teams when he then switched clubs.

What happens if the AFL reserves league gets up and running the "Power reserves" wouldn't be able to wear the prison bars, Port Adelaide would no longer be in the SANFL so the jumper would in fact die.

Everyone knows what they're doing, step 1 wear on Special occasions, Step 2 wear in Showdowns, Step 3 wear at Home except against Collingwood, step 4 Wear it every week then inverted colours away except when playing collingwood.
It is the exact MO of the CCP. Insidious bit by bit persistence until they get what they want. Koch/Port and China. Go figure 😂

I think they should be able to wear it every game except where they're the away team and it clashes with the opponent's guernsey. I don't get the big deal or the enjoyment from denying them this. KG and Wrinkles are classics though. They say they don't get the hullabaloo, it's no big deal, why are people so emotional about it. From their high horses, Port should be able to wear it once a year in their home showdown. Implication is people who care are stupid, problem solved. What I thought amusing was the distinction between their home showdown and our home showdown. Let's see how unemotional and superior they are if that line was crossed. w***ers.

I don't think that's correct. My understanding is that the old club joined the AFL, same board, staff, cash at the time etc. They had no plans to keep a side in the SANFL but were forced to. They incorporated the Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club which is the entity that ran the SANFL side of things, which they didn't actually want to be involved in. It was the original club was granted the AFL license.

So there's no agreement covering the current 22 rounds plus finals?

I know probably 3 or 4 of my mates who kept following us post 1996.

Not too many though and that's fair. Plenty of people had VFL sides that they stopped actively supporting once the Crows came in.

This whole guernsey saga shows once again the self entitled nature of Port supporters.

I hope Port take it to the Supreme Court and lose. It would be even sweeter if they also incur hundreds of thousands in legal costs along the way.

Also it's hilarious that Port are now claiming that the Showdown is a "heritage round" for them, yet don't Port supporters continuously claim that the Crows are irrelevant and don't stand for anything?

Classic #portlogic

Yep, crows have no heritage, but our shorter history of showdowns is an important part of our heritage.

Collingwood see the black and white stripes as a brand, Eddie protecting that brand.

Port trying to cash in on jumper sales.

As an ex Port SANFL supporter, I see no issue with the PB jumper being worn by the Power.

Like Chinese built MGs, they now have a legit claim on that heritage. Having effectively taken it over through OneClub.

Logically they have as much claim to wear it as the ex VFA clubs wearing heritage jumpers.

AFL should let them wear it. There really is no logical grounds for disallowing it, other than allowing Collingwood to protect their branding.

It really is another example of the VFL protecting their own.
