One thing Eddie is on the money about is the parasitic nature of Port.

It's gone from wanting to wear it for heritage round, to now them wanting to use It every year.

It started off with them claiming they just wanted to use it once a year for their home Showdown, but then they turn around and ask to wear it in both Showdowns.

I completely agree with Eddie that history shows that whenever Collingwood throw them a bone that they're never satisfied and continually keep pushing and arguing for more.

I'm glad that Collingwood have now told them to GAGF

Where does Port get off calling the shots for a Crows home game?

As a Crows supporter, I'd much rather win or lose against Port's AFL jumper. It means absolutely nothing to play against the SANFL jumper.

We tried that, when Smug Smart tried for us to play a heritage jumper.

I know probably 3 or 4 of my mates who kept following us post 1996.

Not too many though and that's fair. Plenty of people had VFL sides that they stopped actively supporting once the Crows came in.

North Melbourne was my team as a kid and still second. 1996-1999 was a golden age.

2020... Less so.

There's more than a bit of theatre about this guernsey crap

Kochie gets to grandstand and in the eye of his most brain-dead members is standing up valiantly for the club history.

Eddie gets to do the same in response as he tries to claw back his shattered image.

Port's bid placates a few of the rusted on Alberton barnacles who never fully embraced the AFL move.

Port's bid inevitably fails so it becomes an us against the world thing. Everyone's out to get us but they'll never tear us apart

Collingwood get to demonstrate a show of strength. Don't look at the ladder, we're still top dogs - calling the shots.

Port keep the guernsey in the news as a reminder for people to buy. Oh and Eddie... can you remind everyone that we aren't technically allowed to sell them, that will motivate people to buy while they still can.

Wouldn't surprise me at all.

What makes me laugh is that it is all about giving their supporters something to rally behind.

They played the whole 'everyone is against us and trying to destroy us' angle and fed it to their marketing department who came up with 'Never tear us apart'.
The unwashed masses lapped it up.

Meanwhile, they systematically went about completely destroying their Magpie heritage. While the ferals were mouthing the words of a cheesy 80's pop song with tears in their eyes and holding their purchased scarves up to the heavens like a cult, the magpie, and magpie logo were removed from any and all SANFL paraphernalia. The replaced it with the graphic designed PA logo.

Now they want to cry about their 'heritage' and how important the 'magpies' and the 'prison bars' (actually wharf pylons, but I digress) are to them.

They actually don't give a crap about the guernsey or the heritage. It is about giving their supporters something else to feel aggrieved about. Something else they can complain about and rally around. And it is about the $$$ their supporters will spend by continually buying the guernsey.

It genuinely makes me laugh that their supporters can't see it.
