Wouldn't surprise me at all.

What makes me laugh is that it is all about giving their supporters something to rally behind.

They played the whole 'everyone is against us and trying to destroy us' angle and fed it to their marketing department who came up with 'Never tear us apart'.
The unwashed masses lapped it up.

Meanwhile, they systematically went about completely destroying their Magpie heritage. While the ferals were mouthing the words of a cheesy 80's pop song with tears in their eyes and holding their purchased scarves up to the heavens like a cult, the magpie, and magpie logo were removed from any and all SANFL paraphernalia. The replaced it with the graphic designed PA logo.

Now they want to cry about their 'heritage' and how important the 'magpies' and the 'prison bars' (actually wharf pylons, but I digress) are to them.

They actually don't give a crap about the guernsey or the heritage. It is about giving their supporters something else to feel aggrieved about. Something else they can complain about and rally around. And it is about the $$$ their supporters will spend by continually buying the guernsey.

It genuinely makes me laugh that their supporters can't see it.

I suspect that Eddie wants it taken to court sooner rather than later so it's finalised and done while he still has a powerful voice amongst the Collingwood faithful

I reckon he's worried that in 10-15 years that those who will be in charge at Collingwood may no longer care and allow Port to do it so he wants the door permanently slammed shut now.

Correct.

It easier today than it was say 10-15 years ago to do it.

So 10-15 years from now, Pies may no longer care. Taking it court would be Ports death knell.

Sometimes I feel this boards hate for the PAFC borders on manical/irrational. I have no issues with the PAFC wearing the prison bar uniform for the showdowns, it doesnt impact us. So who cares what they do down the road?

Eddie claiming that he and Gil knew that Heritage rounds weren't going to be around for much longer, and the fact he co-authored the orignal deal, is extremely dodgey (negotiated in bad faith)!. I can't imagine Port Adelaide agreeing to that deal if they were aware of what was going happen.

I dont really care, but because they care, I dont want them to have it.

Depends, he wasn't suggesting he was the only one with that info and stated that clubs were campaigning against it at the time. It was really up to Port to do its due diligence on the matter and not complain after the fact. I'd also think Port would have agreed to the deal even if they knew it was short term...its all about getting the foot in the door and creating a perception of normal...which down the track has resulted in them claiming a Showdown is a heritage match when we all know it isn't considered a heritage match by Port fans but their Grand final.

crows have 6 more years of history over port power yes.

and double the flags yes.

but also a spoony (like us [emoji1787])

On SM-G925I using BigFooty.com mobile app
Port have 3 spoons.

Can't pick and choose what SANFL history they keep.

If Port play us in a Final they will claim thats a heritage match too.

Need to kill this now, by chopping it off at the head.

Yeah there is a bigger story here.

VFL looking after its own.

Why can't Port wear this jumper, then not care if when any other club wants to wear a heritage jumoer?

Port went the wrong way about it. Should not have tied it to the Showdown being a quasi heritage game.

AFL can justify decision saying it is not a heritage game.

When in reality their decision revolves around protecting Collingwood's "black and white stripes" brand.

Too many moments where he could have burst into tears, but none long enough to make a decent gif. I found this video of the segment though. First time in my life I have liked Eddie.

Whoa.

1) Koch is a total w***er.

2) Port’s ‘legal argument’ is shit.

3) LOL Kornes. So out of his depth against seasoned campaigners like Eddie.

4) Port not getting what they whinge for...in anything - delicious. **** them. Full stop.

Did you like #portlogic?

The showdown match apparently is a heritage round game.

I guess wait and see what jumper they wear against us.

Then at the game you can buy

PB the jumper
PB the scarf
PB the hat
PB the toilet paper

They can’t sell any prison bar merchandise. Not even the SANFL jumper anymore because they stupidly decided to give the SANFL team the same logo as the AFL team, and the AFL own that logo.
