How about we give them pick 38 for CCJ then they trade pick 38 back to us for Taz?

As if Richmond would fall for that? Much more likely to agree to a direct swap of CCJ for Taz I reckon :smirky winky thingy

I think that's true if you are already on big bucks and a prominent player but there are a hell of a lot of premiership players out there. I doubt the bottom 6 players in a premiership team can leverage it into an extra couple of mil.

Ben Brown should be able to.

I’m not the one making a claim here. I don’t have anything to prove. I have responded to a claim he would not give the captaincy up by saying that it is completely baseless. The best outcome for north is taz goes as a FA netting us pick 39, then CCJ in the PSD.
Getting the trade done and freeing up PSD pick 1 has value.
So I expect us to give something.
I doubt we trade for taz. It makes no sense.
I still think its CCJ for pick 38.

I said that’s a lot of guess work

there is no proof that JZ would hold on to the captaincy or even it would be his choice.

ok - happy to meet you half way here - I said I didn't know whether he would give up the captaincy - I never said he wouldn't - and it was in response to a question - not a barrow I was pushing.

I for one believe Jack should retain the captaincy for 1 more year - if he wants it! The young guys will benefit from another year of development and learning the leadership game.

Whatever the club wants but there is no rush and nobody is ripping it out of his hands.

If it takes 2 years to retain Jack I am a firm "yes" vote. We've cut the experience comprehensively over 2 years and that might be the right approach. But taking out the captain now would be a bridge too far imo.

We need to retain some structure and familiarity amongst the playing group to help the youngsters emerge now. Jack is a top notch leader from that regard. I'd be entertaining 2 years (in light of the Tarrant departure) even if he'd had a worse year on the field. The fact he held his own in defence is a bonus.

If we're about to transition to Jy or Luke as the main man it would be infinitely better to have Jack there for support.

I think one year deal is sufficient but an extra year after losing tarrant isnt a big deal.

I personally would like to see if we can shake Silvagni from their tree…
maybe I haven’t seen enough of Carlton play, but when I do, he is the only one along with Walsh busting his gut. I like those players.
He is very versatile as well.
I’m guessing O’Brien is out the door also (another Top 10 pick ruined)
