Lazzaro is in his 2nd year. Scott is ahead of him.

Love the lizard and I hope I’m wrong but I’m not sold on him. Had a great first year but we have seen that before with our recruits over the years and some never came on, never progressed. Out of all our draftees last year he is the most vanilla for me and the one easiest to be pushed out of a spot in the 22.

Neither - I reckon I've seen him on our list many times before.

I get what you mean. Let’s hope he proves us both wrong, just think we will have talent greater than him in our 22 when we are pressing. What I will say though, is he seems very driven and professional. That could be the difference between him and our previous recruits who have shown something and never come on. I see he is working with private fitness coaches this off season.

Ps now I want to watch the regular show, hmm hmm

We’ve of course have heaps of young blokes with the talent of Lazz in the past and everyone overrates their young talent on glimpses.

For example, Curtis Taylor in 2020 was very much rated he showed goal sense and highlight reel marks and was one of the best kicks in our team. But then this year with all the other young talent coming on around him and he was pushed to the outer of our minds, like no one really brings him up as a part of our future when he’s just as much a chance to make it as Fordy or Lazz.

First year players unless they are genuinely awful generally seem great prospects if they play because good signs are enough for us, once they are a couple years in good signs are just simply not enough. We need Lazz to genuinely cement a spot in our side before saying he’d be better than Froggy on the wing.

I mean seriously most north supporters had pegged Bailey Scott on the wing for the future a year ago or even more recently after the Carlton game and he’s barely being brought up in this conversation.

Lazz has showed heaps for a first year player and has a lot of traits I like but so did so many in the past and blokes that are already in the squad.

We've often let these types go and they've always been picked up by other clubs. It might be with a change of coaching group we value these types a bit differently. Here's hoping.

I wouldnt mind both JHF and Callaghan.

I guess the best we could do would be the following

In: 2, future 2nd, future 3rd, future 4th
Out: 20, future 1st, future 2nd, future 3rd, future 4th

Along with 38 + Taz for CCJ this would leave us with

1, 2, 69
Its good you can count properly.

Man it would suck if Dumont left. Guy busts his ass for the club and really turned his fitness into a weapon.

I hope we can work something out for a 2 year deal, of some sort.
His running to provide an outlet would be missed more than people give him credit for too. We bemoan the long kicks down the boundry, but forget the options that hard, smart, runners give us.

You don’t pick players based on tenure

Lazzaro has better skills and pace and size
I could see laz as a back flanker, I think he’d be perfect

Okay so the one part of the game I've never really grasped are the tactics clubs use to keep each other honest in the draft and trade season.
So forgive me these dumb questions. I feel a bit stupid.

I've read suggestions that North could make a bid for Daicos and Darcy before JHF. The idea being it would ensure the Pies and the Dogs get them at fair market rates. What's the likelihood of this happening? And if acquiring a forward of the JHF mold is the real goal, could this kind of posturing backfire?

Also, when people talk about trading the PSD 1 pick... I thought the preseason draft was mostly used for anomalies these days. (eg. as a threat to Richmond for CCJ if the negotiations don't go well) Can someone explain to me how much demand there actually is for a PSD 1 pick and why?
