I’m a big fan of Constable. I’d be happy to have him on the list.
I had always had hopes for Clav but as time went on it kept fading to the point that after his first game i said on here he would be gone end of season , think you will find he wont get picked up by any other club let alone end up at Sydney and play 150 games as someone suggested

Current midfield;

Steele- fit as a buck rat
Crouch- has had injuries but ok now
Jones- injury prone
Bytel- work in progress
Byrnes- work in progress
Clark- can do the job if required-
Gresham- back from injury
Connolly- not yet
Hannebery- not reliable
Ross- Tagger/bench player
Traded in???

NGA's- be a miracle if they can start asap as a full time mid

Take away a Steele or Crouch out of there and we dont exactly have a killer midfield and would be in trouble- We will get injuries- nothing surer and be worse if Ryder or Marshall go down. Probably need to get a couple of OOC types like Constable who can slot straight in and pick up 20+ possies a game if given the chance.

Id say that's the end of the road for him , don't see any club taking him
Had that one burst of form where he looked like he might break out then he was tunnelled in that marking contest and hurt his knee. I like lonie so I hope he finds a club willing to take him but it’s the right call imo by the saints.

I was there at that game. Vs adelaide at marvel wasn’t it? Was shattered to see him injured. Was almost our barometer in that period. When he had a quiet game we sucked and when Lonie managed to kick more than 1 goal we were usually going well. I’m pretty sure we dropped off after that too

Did well for a bloke of his size and not in a strong team. Felt like he played for himself this year and that was noticeable, tried to kick goals from bad angles, too far out etc. Didnt quite get to 100 games.

He had a lot of heart, and when he looked good he was fun to watch. My favourite memories of him will be watching him take on guys twice his size and try and tackle them to the ground. Loved seeing when he actually got one to ground.
Wouldn't bother me if we re-rookied him or whatever at the end of the period, I do think we've seen his best however.

Well one thing I can say our management are pretty ruthless compared to before Leathean came to the club.
Dunstan shown the door , Lonie cut - these types were in our best 22 a few years ago and by the looks they were no to fazed if we lost Ross.
This should really be sending a message to all the players in the team , if they don't perform to standard they are gone.
Hopefully it has a effect and players like Battle and Long step up a gear.

I would love to do a statistical analysis of the success rate of delisted players taken in the national/rookie draft versus mature players taken from WAFL, SANFL and VFL competitions. My hunch is that over the last decade the latter competitions are the happier hunting ground.

Forget the fact that he's a 2x premiership player.

He still has nightmares about this 'chaos ball' of his -

I'm not an Eddie fan, but that piece of commentary was rolled gold.

Who was the Saint who took the intercept mark from King's kick?

I wonder what the Demons thought at the end of 2020?

AFL experts' ladder predictions for 2021. One person predicted that they'd make the eight, and that person had them in eight spot...

These players don't always come free though you know. Highmore for example was pick 42, which we won't have this year due to NGA players.

There are also state league players have been delisted from AFL clubs and getting a second chance.

Things are also very different this year and last compared to previous years as well.

List sizes hage been reduced which has meant for some clubs they've had to cut players they'd normally give a few more years development to.

I am positive we will take at least one player from a state league either as a past DFA or in the rookie draft, but we don't have enough draft capital to just grab 2 or 3 highly rated state players so I've got no issue also taking a punt on DFA.

I think it just comes down to who we rate highest and not get caught up on whether they've been delisted or weren't good enough to be drafted in previous year. Players develop differently.

No it wouldn't Hanrahan has untaped talent & isn't as small either has shown talent when he has played, we got everything we could out of Lonie just not up to it.
I like Hanrahan, my parents are Hawks fans so I've watched a fair few of his games and I always thought he was a solid young half forward - was surprised to see him delisted. I'd take a chance on a guy like that, they seem to work out better for us than the big name recruits

Screw David King. The bloke wouldn't know our list from a bar of soap. Says we have no one that can step up to be Steele's level. Why not?

Just had a quick squiz and he predicted Gold Coast to make the eight this year. Oh and guess who he didn't think would make the eight? Melbourne.

He can shoot his mouth off about our president and how sh*t we are but as others have said it's probably a good sign for our chances. Total oxygen thief in my opinion.

Did you support Geelong in the VFL
