I know it's be discussed before but the talent from 4 to 20 is reasonably even so personally I don't see much value in packaging them together to move up.
That’s not quite my view anymore.

If you look at eDPS top 20, swap Amiss and Draper around, and I believe there’s a gap between 14 and 15. And our first pick currently sits at pick on that list.

VFL top up players can NOT be upgraded to play at AFL level.

Also there is a $100k salary cap for the VFL team.
Briz what about the mid season draft. say we de-list a player and they agree to play in our VFL side. We do have a long term injury could we then pick them bak up mid season. Yep I know any other them could as well but is that a possibility.

Kiddy and Cameron coming off the half back line? We are not noted for our leg speed so any speed is welcome in my eyes however list spots are an issue. Will be interesting as always to see where this ends up.
Remember we have another Coleman on our list so we might end up with 2 x Coleman's off half back

That’s a possibility.

Unless Joyce is wedded to Brisbane, he’s more likely to return to WA and play in the WAFL if delisted.

Hopefully the Dees lose tonight and we have picks 14 and 15/16 - which does give us a few options
- Go to the draft with picks 14, 15/16 (which will become 16 - 20) and hopefully pick up players like Amiss and Johnson
- Trade up by packaging 14 & 15/16 to Carl for picks 6 and their 2022 2nd rounder and potentially getting Goater.

Other packages might include :-
- GC for picks 3 and 22, however we will need to throw in our 1st/2nd rounder for next year. This means we could get Callaghan.
- GWS for pick 2 and their 2022 2nd - however we will need to throw in our 1st/2nd for next year. This means we will get Callaghan.
- Adel for picks 4 and 23 (or their 2nd rounder next year). Gives Adel the opportunity to select 2 highly rated SA's instead of 1. No guarantee that Callaghan is available and we settle for Goater anyway.
- StK for pick 9 and their 2022 2nd. Will get us Goater.

Please note that I really like the look of Goater from what I have seen.

Remember the days when we would have about 15 OOC this time of the year?

Certainly don’t want to go back to that but having almost no flexibility with list spots at the moment is also not ideal.
I too miss the days where our players were so crappy there was no reason to extend their contracts. ;)

I dont think the Bulldogs will entertain a straight swap of first rounders. They would probably like some points as well. We have 2 thirds. I dont know how we manufacture enough points to get Dogs to trade their first. Also having 3 late firsts enter the list this year and then Ashcroft + Jasper next year might make it difficult to get these players some game time (unless we draft tall with a couple of those picks). We may be better off holding our first next year and then trading it out for a future first. Alternatively it could let us chase a pre-agent type best 22 player. Trading it now just limits our options and puts a lot of risk on us. We've already taken a bunch of risks ala the Demons trade. I dont think we need to make too many big plays.

Dogs will be trading their first pick this year. It'll be to whoever comes up with the best deal for them.

They will, but how many teams apart from us will want to trade out of the first round next year for pick 15-18 this year?

Briggs is kind of a younger version of Casboult that can kick. Think he’s spent time at GWS in the ruck, forward and back, is a very big unit for his age, can take a good mark and moves reasonably well. We were linked to him a couple months ago, having said that we were linked to Ed Richards in the same article who has now resigned.
I wonder if Ballenden could be of any value in a trade, GWS could be in need of a key position player that can play either end.
Sounds a bit like Payne.

I feel we need to keep our first round pick next year we have very little list spots available so trading our first pick next year works better no one knows where we finish next year. our first could be a top 10 pick meaning we just finish out side the 8 nobody knows how bad Covid becomes next year Covid could hit Queensland hard next season like it has NSW this year

I read article from July 2021 indicating we were interested in Briggs but not for one of our first rounders. Wonder if our future first for Briggs plus some future change might be on the cards.

For Briggs??

Bloody hell, you sure you've got the right guy?

Next year, points appear to be more important. You wouldn't be giving a first round pick for Briggs.

Isn't this the kind of thinking that delivered pick 2 to GWS this year
