Current picks: 14, 18, 41, 54, 60, 76, 90
2022: R3 out.

So, can we package 54 (220 pts), 60 (146 pts), 76 (0 pts) for a FY22 pick? On points, they are pick ~44. Probably looking at a mid-late 2022 R3.

Also depends whether we like Triffett as an academy player. May prefer to trade 41, 54 out for a 2022 late 2nd and keep 60 to match points.

Of course, we may also do all of this on draft night, depending who is available at pick41.
41 54 60 to Collingwood for 27 maybe?

We can’t take our excess picks in to the draft.

Pretty sure pick trades finish 1 week before the draft, then teams put in a list lodgement that indicates how many list spaces they have for the draft, and teams lose the late picks they can’t use.

I love the Gateway as it’s an easy climb, but yeah, I wouldn’t be letting a young kid freewheel down. Easily hit 50k’s+.
Letting her, wasn’t the intention.
It just happened and I think she hit the front brake and it through her over the handle bars.
The Blood Curdling screams of pain.
I will never ever forget.

Would really like that, but Collingwood wouldn’t do that.

They have to many picks already they won’t be able to use, with 6 picks under 60. From what I’ve heard, they’ll only take 4 picks to the draft. Yes

Yeah, I didn’t mean it like that, sorry my bad.

Can relate fell off a slippery slide as a kid and broke my arm. Not pleasant

It's funny the highlights video the lions posted is of Fort towelling up Oscar last year

Doubt any of that happens. Low picks aren't valuable to many teams now. The bid matchers will have prepared already.

Yeah unfortunately it might be bad news for Triffet if we're only taking 3 draftees this year.
Not impossible next year depending on how many we move on. I expect all our picks to be used on Ashcroft, Fletcher and maybe McMillan, so if there's a fourth list spot available, Triffett might be the man if he has a good year in the VFL.

Could yet be picked up by someone else this year but yeah that's probably his best chance with us.

We need to trade for someone's first next year.... set up a death ride thread and hope they are the wooden spooner..... then take George Wardlaw or Elijah Tsatas at pick 1 and then match the bid on consensus number 1 Will Ashcroft at 2.

Wouldn’t go a tall at 1?

Triffett is 19 this year. Matures out of our academy this year.

I don't know enough about the talls, have only read a couple of things on BF draft/trade board about 2022 draft talent and the names Wardlaw and Tsatas are always in the top 5 or so, 2 elite mids next year for an aging Zorko/Lyons/Neale/Rich would be ideal IMO. However if there is an elite tall forward prospect(ie top few players in the draft) in 2022 I'd be for that.

Yeah I have been looking at our position next year and it is likely we will have 5-7 list spots available but very little draft capital with the potential FS and Academy picks. We may look at a low cost FA and someone like Triffett, Hammelman or one of the other older academy boys just to keep refreshing things.

Happy we managed to get a really clever option to reinforce our ruck stocks. I think it was the much better option compared to some of the free agents brought up.

Bit romantic with his dad being a lions fan.

Surely we won the trade period now!
Despite giving up next year's third (meaning we will have to scramble to make that up somehow), we seem to have done well in this deal on paper.
Happy with the choice of a mature ruck over more of a forward ruck like Cox or Casboult. Plus I'm pretty confident he can play a bit. I'm going to stick by my comments from the other day that he might overtake Oscar.

I usually don't mind Kane Cornes but he made me laugh with his assessment of ours and the Demons trade period.

He said the Demons were great > Traded in a depth mid in Luke Dunstan.

He said the Lions were disappointing > Traded in an experienced ruck that will likely play at least half a season in the firsts and provide much needed ruck depth in Darcy Fort + upgraded pick 50 to 41.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

So if we plan on three selections at the draft with 14,18 and 41it looks likely that B Smith, Ballenden and Joyce will all be delisted?
Out - Birchall, A. Smith, B. Smith, T. Joyce & C. Ballenden.

In - Fort, 14, 18, 41 & Lane

Is that right?

How far short are we on picks for our gun kids next year though now? Happy to go Fort in, should help to hold himself well.
