  • trade back in with a future second and take barnett

  • trade back in with a future second for someone else

  • only take MM and keep the other spot for PSD/rookie

I wonder if phillipou has slid to say pick 13 or 14, whether we might have a deal in place for 23 and our f2 which will be a valuable pick in a stronger draft?

Yeah I've been thinking about those GWS picks 15/18/19. I reckon you put a trade offer to them each time their pick comes around because:

1) GWS are currently out of the second round in 2023
2) Assuming we want Michelanney AND someone else then we need to get in before the bid on Michelanney

They won’t take it for 15 - they gave up 21 and a future 2nd for that pick, they won’t want to take a loss

You could ask for pick 19, but I don’t reckon there’s much point

Success of picking key forwards early in draft and recruiters’ view of top choice Aaron Cadman

North Melbourne is set to secure arguably the best two players in this year's draft, with most clubs understood to not have key forward Aaron Cadman ranked as the No.1 talent in the open draft

Some clubs do not have Cadman ranked in their top seven players (including Ashcroft) and think using the No. 1 pick on him would be a stretch.

The concerns on Cadman centre around his contested marking and how he will adapt to AFL when there's no anti-density rule.

Suddenly the likes of Tom Stewart will be flying across packs as third man-up, whereas this year Cadman has had oodles of space to work with

As St Kilda list boss James Gallagher said: “Typically your gun midfielders, your champion and your star midfielders, come in the first four, five, six picks of the draft”.

its funny given north are at the bottom i don't think anyone is very interested in their drafting or list management advice 🤣

It was more to do with Clubs not factoring in the U18 anti-density rules, which make Forwards look so much better than they are ......it was why Schache was a wasted pick ....Tom Boyd, Jack Watts ect

At what point do we try and get back into the first round this year?

How far does Phillipou slide for us to try and come in with a trade using next year’s first?

Where will that 2023 pick land, would have to be top 10.

If he is still there at pick 8 or 9 do we try?

Or is next year’s first worth more to us than an SA first round mid?

we should now be trying to get north's or gws's first pick for next year. somehow. once you know where the chips fall its too late.

Using what?
swap firsts 2023, add next years second give some players. no imagination and extremely risk averse.

im not saying its easy but we are going to be much better next year i suspect but can still fly under the radar. if we want the gun mid you need a top 5 pick. we wont be getting that via our pick I assure you.

I'd say Sam Landsberger has never seen Aaron play or if he has very rarely. The kid is highly competitive in all areas of his game be it in the air or on the ground..
Worth remembering also he's only been switched up forward by Rebels coach David Loader this season after playing mostly defence last season as an underager. There would hardly be a KPF in the the AFL that works as hard as Cadman to be involved in every aspect of the game. He's a ripper.

Probably hasn't .....however I believe he was conveying the views "of some" recruiters .....he did say though, there were opposing views as well on Cadman

I do agree though, he does get his hands on balls that he should mark ....but doesn't

#1 pick .....not IMO

On the night you could if your player was there

As we know alot of players get taken much earlier and later than media / fan draft boards predict sometimes

There could be some real quality at 19 left re mids

Cadman plays nothing like those blokes, way more mobile than Schache and Boyd and way more competitive in every aspect of the game than Jack Watts.

I was comparing "failed" #1 picks who looked so good at U18 levels, because of the anti-density rule ......I had the same question marks over Logan McDonald .....TWT with him

I'm not saying Cadman is a bad pick, and I can see the Cameron comparisons ......just not at #1 ....high risk IMO

You really need to watch some full matches that Aaron has played not just highlights then you'll appreciate more just how hard he works, this not a one effort forward, he works his ring off..he'll be a very hard match up for KPD's believe me

And we just gave away a top 5 pick rather than getting maximum value for it.

Would have liked to split it (with say Carlton) for their first this year and next and sent GC this years first

Neither …. Wouldn’t take him before pick 40

What’s his traits ? What will make him succeed at AFL ?
Mobile 200cm player, with a bit of physicality .....I like him more than Verrall

I’m a bit down on his skill set and athletic traits

Just average across the board

At least Verrall has some speed for a big guy and huge vertical leap at centre bounce
Lets see how it plays out .....I like a bit of physicality in talls ....good contested ball attributes
