Jefferson is a key forward
McKenzie didn't make the TOTY of 24 players after being named in the squad of 48. What does that tell you champ?
Humphrey the much touted midfielder named at half forward while the defender was named in the middle. Whatever could be their reasoning?

Wrong is your middle name buddy!
Just my opinion and we all have our favorites so no one is wrong and no one is right, at least not for at least 3 - 5 years after they get drafted:

Not sold on Jefferson is rake thin and I watched him in a couple of NAB league games doesn't look like a key position player to me is like a shorter version of King probably third tall at least for the first five years possibly his whole career depending on how he goes in the weights room. He is a good judge of a mark the kind that just bobs up in the spot but at least early will get destroyed by bigger stronger AFL defenders, he stays pretty close to goal and doesn't demand the ball like Cadman. We need competitors in the forward line haven't seen that from Jefferson. He has talent but pick 10 is too early IMO.

McKenzie over Hustwaite every day of the week. Not sure Hustwaite will even be a mid at AFL he is one of those players that goes completely unnoticed until you look at the Stats sheet. Even then when you look at his stats he has almost twice the number of handballs to kicks, basically he has no outside game. Not for our first pick IMO, he would be worth considering in the teens but not clear what he becomes at AFL level.

I get Gringo saying McKenzie is Vanilla I too thought that about Brayshaw and Walsh in their draft years and didn't get the hype, to an extent Ashcroft who will go number 1 is similar. Like those guys McKenzie just consistently wins the pill inside and outside he is just a really consistent smart hard running footballer and he hardly ever wastes a possession he will get you 25-30 constructive meaningful possessions every game. I also think that is exactly the kind of player we need to compliment Owens and Windhager. Owens is the bull, Windhager is the dynamic mid and McKenzie is the link man. He is also a good height too and should fill out to the right size for AFL mid but will be able to play lots of positions wing HB High HF while he is serving his apprenticeship.

That TOTY is based on what they did in the NAB League based on their weekly Team of the Rounds not the Champs and not School footy which McKenzie played instead of NAB League, half that team won't even get drafted. Look at their Power Rankings for who they rate.

McKenzie made the squad of 48. Then they selected the team. Carry on though. Honestly (word) i enjoy reading everyones posts. :)

Mackenzie only played 9 games out of 16, it makes sense as to why he didn't make the team. If you prefer Hustwaite, that's fine. It's an opinion afterall, just try and not put too much stock into some awards at NAB league level due to APS and State commitments that are played at the same time

I fully expect us to draft Mckenzie if he's available being our NGA. In the meantime it's just killing time till the draft window opens. Whoever we draft, i want the club to get it right. The name is unimportant.

Not really. I will take the word of Cal Twomey and the men who run draft central over yours, no offence.

Ashcroft and Clark will not make it to our pick. Hustwaite is named next best in Victoria according to the people who watch it. All say Pendles and possible star factor. Phillipou will head to Port. Hewett perhaps if we want to bank on a West Australian over a Victorian in a close battle. Saints may just do that knowing us!

Anyway i know you love to argue. Please come at me chief.
We get it, you like him as a player.
Feel free to let others have their opinions too.

The good thing about an NGA is we get to know him.
We can draft him because we know he's elite from his training and stuff.
We can not draft him because we know he's lazy.
or more like the Saints.
We can draft him cos he's a good bloke and he always gets the coach his double hot chocolate with a shot of caramel and a leaf in the froth.
We can not draft him because we heard him say a swear word when he dropped a dumbell on his foot.

ST KILDA

Draft Picks: 9, 27, 45, 64
List needs:
Game-breakers, midfield speed, elite ball-users, key position depth
Who could be available at first pick:
Bailey Humphrey, Cam Mackenzie (NGA), Mattaes Phillipou, Jed Busslinger, Matthew Jefferson

It’s no wonder the Saints have been linked to Jordan De Goey, as St Kilda’s list lacks match-winners, particularly in the forward half where they ranked 15th for total points and 14th for scoring percentage from chains in 2022. Fortunately, the late bolter of this year’s draft – Bailey Humphrey– has similar qualities to de Goey and could still be on the board at St Kilda’s first selection. Humphrey is somewhat of an unknown quantity given he has missed a fair chunk of the season through injury, but is a powerful marking presence up forward and provides burst through the midfield. South Australian Mattaes Phillipouis another in this range with game-breaking impact. A rule change prohibits clubs from matching bids inside the top 40 for NGA prospects, but if he is still there, why don’t the Saints get in before the crowd and take Dragon Cam Mackenzie? His incredible poise, speed and ball-use as a 187cm midfielder would be a great fit. A tall at either end of the ground would also fill a need, with key forward Matthew Jefferson and Jedd Busslinger, an intercepting backman, going to be hard to pass up if they are still available. Isaac Keeler shapes as a potential long-term replacement for Paddy Ryder with his athleticism as a forward-ruck, while powerful forward Brayden Georgeoozes x-factor, but he will be sidelined for all of 2023 after a late-season ACL rupture.

Latest moves: St Kilda has expressed interest in Jordan De Goey but he appears set to remain at the Pies.

Max Gruzewski or I.Keeler, may be around at our 2nd pick.

I've just been to the future, those DeLorean's are crap to get spare parts for.

News from draft night.
After directives from the coach to get the next Jordan DeGoey, Saints drafted....ahhh...forgot his name, no-one ever heard of him but he has several charges from grabbing women on the breast.

Meanwhile the next Cyril seems to be settling in at his new home in the sunshine.

According to afl.com Melbourne has St Kilda's pick 64, traded by the Saints for an extra draft pick in the 2021 draft.

According to afl.com Melbourne has St Kilda's pick 64, not sure why though ?
We had a pick swap last year to help get points to match the Windy and Owens bids I believe. Got 3 4ths back but traded Adelaide's F4 for Collingwood's 3rd in 2021 for more points.

Pick was brought in after Windy and used to draft Oscar Adams.

Olli hotton gotta be a real possibility at our pick 10 now. On the smaller side, but all class one touch. Will start his career as a high half forward but will end up being a centre square mid. Reminds me of jimmy Bartel.
