Turned it over almost every time he had the ball in that compilation haha geez

Had a couple of nice kicks, the rest were elementary kicks that anyone should make and everything else was handballs. Not the best package of what he can do IMO.
If that’s what you took from that video as the stand out trait. Fair enough.

I saw gut running. A monster accumulator. Someone who was inside and outside and a pair of wheels to breakaway.

I’m confident that you take a kid with those traits and 50-100 games in. The whole thing slows down for them and they can deliver kicks and pull off some of the more aggressive ones.

gringo2011 i think you mentioned he was abit soft. I saw the kid get nailed a few times in that video.

In my eyes. I see why clubs have him in the top 5 and I see why prior to injury he was in the number 1 discussion.

If he is available at our pick. It is a no brainer.

The recruitment team need to work out how to get the blues pick to grab CMac

Hello everyone, I've just finished up with the BigFooty Phantom Draft picking for you lot. Figured I'd throw a quick summary in here to get some feedback.

Pick 10. Bailey Humphrey | 186cm 84kg
Powerful forward-midfielder in the mold of De Goey, his set shots need quite a bit of work but as a mid he provides so much power and agility he was hard to pass up. Just a high-upside prospect with the power and speed to break games open off his own boot.

Pick 31. Max Gruzewski | 193cm 84kg
Versatile and athletic swingman, he plays as a third tall in both defence and the forward line. Good kick for goal as well, with plenty of potential to develop in the VFL for a season or two as he finds out where his best position is.

Pick 35. Harry Lemmey | 199cm 94kg
Another high-upside forward, Lemmey has all the tools to dominate and just hasn't put it all together this year. A great kick up the ground and marking force deep, he plays well in a structured and consistent forward system. Battled illness and injury throughout the year, after a season in a professional program he has every chance to recapture the form that made him a potential number 1 pick early in the year.

Pick 45. James Van Es | 197cm 94kg
Athletic tall backman who plays strong as a lockdown fullback but with the speed and vertical leap to be a dominant force as an interceptor. Another pick with a lot of talent and upside, JVE needs to translate his speed and spring into a weapon on the rebound. As low-risk and high-reward as you can get this late in the draft.

I'm not 100% up to date with the Saints list needs, but I figured some developable x-factor in KPPs would help stabilize the spine around a strong midfield with some developing talent looking to rotate through in Clark, Gresham, Owens, and Windhager.

I don't think it was me, I rate him.

I don’t think we could overlook Tsatas in the unlikely event he’s still available at our first pick. He’s suppose to be a bit of Josh Kelly type that runs all day & racks up massive numbers. And he’s been discussed as the best prospect outside of Ashcroft although North seem to be favouring a couple of others more recently.

I don’t think we can go wrong with any of Tsatas, McKenzie, Phillipou or Humphrey. All seem to be very good options with Tsatas rated the best closely followed by Mckenzie & Humphrey & Phillipou slightly behind those next two.

I like them all but probably would have taken one more midfield runner over 3 talls. I also wouldn't mind a small forward option.

Personally would be pretty happy with that. Prob another mid in there, but great job 😃

If Essendon happen to take Humphry I think we will be looking to move up to GC's pick to grab Tsatas

They will at least consider it. Rumours are Humphry is their man and they won't risk the go home factor of Tsatas

I just don't see him making it to our pick

If not, we still end up with McKenzie or Phillipou (Looks like Humphry the least likely to make it now) and I'm still happy

One thing that would make me melt is a trade down from pick 9

Not a bad effort

We've taken a project tall in each of nour past 2 drafts though so wed more than likely look for a bit of run and carry with that last pick I reckon

Hello… fox sports reporting this 👀

Should the Bombers overlook Tsatas, it remains unclear how far he could slide down the order. Non-Victorian clubs are wary of drafting Tsatas, meaning it’s unlikely Gold Coast and West Coast would take him with their respective first picks. And with speculation the Hawks and Cats are wedded to other players, recruiters believe St Kilda would be a chance to pounce on Tsatas late in the top 10.

So they’re suggesting:

Pick 1 - Giants - Cadman
Pick 2 - Lions - Ashcroft
Pick 3 - North - Sheezel
Pick 4 - North - Wardlaw
Pick 5 - Dons - Phillipou
Pick 6 - Suns - Ginbey
Pick 7 - Hawks - Humphrey
Pick 8 - Cats - Clark
Pick 9 - Eagles - Allan
Pick 10 - Saints - Tsatas / Mckenzie

So why does most the country rate him as a top 5 pick if he is so poor in so many key areas?
Because the people rating him aren't judging him off one highlights package of a game that was probably far from his best

Here is a couple more for the non believers

Draft prospect: Elijah Tsatas

I don’t like the idea of giving up our future 1st in a strong draft year.
2018 Draft - Walsh went at 1 , Max at pick 4 , Rozee at pick 5 , Ben King at 6 and Bailey Smith at 7. We need to think about what we could be giving up. Use our seconds / future second to push up if the draft falls to our advantage. Even if next years reportedly strong draft doesn’t quite measure up to 2018 , it still would have to be better than this years draft where the touted top 10 , is sprinkled with kids with kicking issues.

In other games I’ve seen it as an issue for him tbh.
I watched him play against the Knights before his injury and he was outstanding just wins the ball again and again and his kicking and decision making were good. He is a 30+ possession player. Knows how to find it inside and out. I also think the knock on his disposal is overblown his disposal is good not Dal Santo but quality none the less.

He is rightly in the top 5 of this draft. Having said that I had dismissed him as an option for us and focussed all my hope on CMac either one I am good both fill the slot we need to go alongside Windy and Owens. Anyway never listen to any rumours about what Essendon might do - Dodo likes jerking every one around just for the hell of it.

Could definitely back fire if we have a shit year

Even 2018 though there wasn't much after pick 12

Play finals it's a win IMO

Essendon have been chasing mids for so long that they have a lack of tall timber. I'd be going for a tall if I was them. Busslinger would be a good get as a gun KPB. They've struggled for a good tall back since Michael Hurley broke down.

They've got trout helping them recruit.

They'll probably take this guy round 1.

Can we only take one??? 🤣

I'd seek out and destroy our list manager if it played out like that and he didn't take Humphrey.

I rate Gruzewski, but we have a few players for 3rd tall in the back and a few almost tall forwards. Allen would have been my choice.

Lemmy as well might be a choice between a forward or a mid. I've also noticed quite a few expect him to go a bit later than that. But if our list managers took him i wouldn't be upset.

Van Es is a yes, but Phillips is still available. We have a young defender Oscar Adams on our list. I really don't know how he's rated internally. If they think he's a bust, Van Es might be the best choice. If they think he might be a late developer, the VFL level Phillips might be better.
